A city boy visits nature.
Sunday, 24 July

This is the photo from the plane going back to Tokyo. I could use my time until this evening to finish my assignment but I wanted to use the whole Sunday to do touristy stuff. I worked until 3 in the morning to get everything done. I slept for about 3 hours. I booked a flight to Kushiro. It's a city of fishermen. 50 mins flight, 140 miles/ 224 Km east of Sapporo. I didn't go there to fish nor eat seafood. I just wanted to feel the nature. Because they have extremely green huge marsh, I wanted to relax alone by looking at it. It's quiet there.

When I lived in the rural area for 2 years, friends around me always made fun of me being a city boy. I didn't wear jeans. (I do, now), I was wearing loafers only (I do wear different things now). I didn't like the idea of the nature. A lot of bugs and no easy access to a flashing toilet. Last year, I did "farm stay" for two weeks in this area. I had to milk cows (Well, actually, they do have this suction equipment to suck milk out of them), took care of their dumps, no internet access, etc. I admit it was hard. But air was incredibly clean there and everything I ate was delicious. Because Hokkaido Island is huge, wild nature can be easily accessed in the eastern region. Yes, it was very relaxing. Now I am back in this metropolis. Too many cars and too many people. Although the air is not as clean as it is in Kushiro, I like it here. It's nice to visit the real nature. I feel like my soul was cleansed by this journey. I don't think I can live in a place like that though. After all, I am a city person.

I would love to see Tokyo. I'm sure I'd be overwhelmed by it. Keep in mind I've never seen a building more than 10 stories tall in real life :)
And I think I've watched Akira too many times because I'd be afraid of extrememly powerful psionic motorcycle riders blowing up the city!
Peace and love, tiger!

Hi Leigh,
A lot of my friends say the same thing but believe me, biz trips are not as fun as they sound to be. I was excited for the first 2-3 biz trips but after that, it's the same thing.... Have a great week!
Hi Larry,
Oh, that's right. I read about that on your 100 thingy. Maybe, you could go to New York City for practice. If you are o.k. with NYC, you will be O.k. in Tokyo as well. :-) No motorcycles like that in Akira. Thanks for stopping by. Sleep tight.

Your photos are always so amazing! Any tips?

Hi AJ,
Thanks for the compliment! It's very sweet of you to say that. I think my camera does that for me. I don't have any tips about taking photos. I just take a photo whenever I feel like it. By the way, my camera is so primitive. It's only 200Mbytes no auto focus.... I want something great. Waiting for Santa. :-)

Nature can be *much* better when you visit it, rather than live in it.
I live right in the middle of nature (we can't even see other buildings from our house!) and I rarely really look at it unless I'm on vacation somewhere else.
I'm glad you took some down time for yourself. :)

Hi Mushlette,
That's so true. But the good thing to live in a rural area is that you have clean air. That way, your skin won't be damaged by air pollution. :-) I have to put this Lancome cream on to avoid that damage. I wish I didn't have to do this but I need not to look older than my age. Yes, I am gay. :-)
