How much is the airfare from Tokyo to Sapporo? OBon is round the corner, I thought you made a quick trip back to your home town Yamaguchi?
Anyway, glad to see you and A heading north to escape from the heat...

Have a great day

I believe that the main reason that the US asked that the Men's Swimming be held in the morning is because American swimmer Michael Phelps has a chance to beat the Olympic record that was set by Marc Spitz in the Seventies( Marc won seven gold medals and Michael has a chance for eight!), and it would be more exciting for Americans to see it live rather than hear the news second hand the next morning.

P.S. I'm glad that you two got a chance to get away! :)

I love Sapporo too, especially with sushi! The people complaining about the heat reminds me of one time in San Francisco it was 80°F and everyone was complaining about the 'heat wave.' I thought, you should try Washington (which is like Tokyo, hot and humid!).

Thanks for the pics as always.

Your picture travelogs are my favorite. I love grilled corn! The corn is just coming in around here right now, so I'll be having some soon.

Still haven't been to Hokkaido, but I'd love to go for the Snow Festival next February. Yes, indeed--Visa was the ONLY credit card accepted at the official merchandise shops in Beijing. I splurged on a Swatch with the Fuwa mascots on it.

I've been invited to dinner by the general manager of the HopInn Amagasaki, but seeing as how it used to be a Kirin brewery and that Kirin owns the hotel, I think we will be drinking Kirin tonight and not Sapporo!

Anyway, Japanese beer is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better than American beer, but it was still shocking when Budweiser was sold to a Belgian company (; _ ;)

Hi Sgx,

I believe it was somewhere around 40,000 Yen (US$380) per person. Well, Obon was last month in Tokyo :) But yes, a lot of people go back home. FYI, my home town is Tokyo :) Have a great weekend!

HI LIfebook,

Good. Have a great weekend!

Hi TigerYogiji,

He is a very amazing man. we almost forget that there was a great swimmer, Ian Thorpe. :) I am sorry that the gymnastics team didn't do well even though NBC paid a lot to broadcast it live in the evening there! Have a great weekend!

HI Freshmess,

Thanks very much. Have a great weekend!

HI T.Kevin,

I am glad you like my favorite beer :) I guess those people in cooler cities don't do well when it's really hot :) I cannot understand why those business men in suit don't sweat at all under this humid weather! Anyway, Have a great weekend!

HI Goblinbox,

Thanks very much. Yeah, grilled corn is so nice :) I didn't know it's coming around there. I am saying this because corn in Sapporo is like an early summer thingy. Anyway, enjoy the fresh sweet corn! Have a great weekend!

HI Raph,

That's great. Sapporo is always stable, smooth, nice and good enough :) Have a great weekend!

HI Paul,

Well, the Tokyo brutal summer is not treating me well but I will survive :) Have a great weekend!

HI GaijinGirl,

You should definitely go to Hokkaido! It's a fantastic place. No wonder why there are so many Chinese/Hong Kongese tourists all year around! I am sorry about your sister but I hope she did enjoy the olympic game! It's such an hornor thingy to present one's country like that. Kirin Owns the hotel? so all the vending machines in the hotel are Kirin as well? I like nuda :) But Kirin beer is actually refreshing in summer because it's fruity, light but it's too weak for me :) I don't care too much for american beers, either. I guess that belgian company wanted a marketing strategy not the beer:) Have a great weekend!
