It's not that bad :)
Tue, 11 December 2007

So from today, my usual newspaper's font got a little bigger. They proudly mentioned it on the front page. To me, it looks odd as my eyesight is pretty good for a geek because if I look behind in the office and look at somebody's computer display which is about 3 meter (10 feet) away from me, I can actually read what s/he is typing:) Anyway, back to my point, the font is larger now. It takes some time for me to get used to the new bigger font. Since I am not a size queen, I don't follow the rule "the bigger, the better" but I guess there is a good reason behind this and why it has gotten bigger. I am not sure if you know but Japan faces an aging society and the country's over-65 population already stands at 26 million. More than 20 percent of the total. Ergo, more elder friendly paper since younger people rely on the internet and don't read newspapers much. Now, SOME (I say some. not all.) young insecure people in their 20s and 30s even may think aging is bad. Those want to stay young forever by singing "Forever Young". I am not against them. I was actually one of those when I was 24. So I can understand them. But I pretty much gave up on that idea and accepted about aging. Though my bottom line is that I do not want to look older than I have to. You already saw the most recent photo of me in that slide dated on the 27th of last month. (Thanks Jean-Luc. yes. I am trying to lose weight. But I know before you told me!!!) Well, I am not young anymore. So I am focusing on aging gracefully. Aging is actually good. Aged whiskey is so fantabulous. So is aged wine. I am sure having "intimate" moments with "aged" experienced guys can be a lot more enjoyable than with inexperienced young guys. See? Anyway, I don't know why I changed a subject a little from a bigger font on the newspaper...I had influenza last Satruday. I am now recovered. I hope you stay healthy! Anyway, age gracefully! You have a wonderful week!

I have three versions of the song "Forever Young." ;-) I guess I am not aging gracefully, since I am starting to need glasses to read the newspaper, but I am fighting it. I guess wearing contacts AND having glasses seems a bit silly. Bifocal contacts anyone?
Thanks for charing, Shigeki! :-)

well reading computer type 3m away could merely mean you're far-sighted :). Don't worry hon' my eyes were made fucked up. I got glasses at 12 and remember thinking "wow, I didn't know things were supposed to be this clear!". As for Jean Luc, tell that rude man to shuttup, you're adorable. :)

I guess it's too late to say "odaiji ni" but glad you are feeling better! Yep, no glasses for me, either. My boyfriend in college got annoyed with me for wearing fake glasses when I wanted to "get studious" because he said I didn't know how lucky I had it (he had to wear glasses and that's the only thing that prevented him from being a Top Gun pilot--he was the RIO (radar intelligence officer) on F-14s). I still like fake glasses from time to time! (^_^)

Talking about getting intimate with aged, experienced guys is a telltale sign that you're far from aging, Shigeki. Stay fabulous, fun, and fresh! Just like your entries. I'm amazed how you covered most of life's joys, not to mention a Japanese statistic, from a speck of info about your newspaper. Bravo! No, Brava! :)

Shigeki- I have 20 years on you and I don't consider myself old. That makes you a babe in the woods :-) Gregg

I would be happy to look 3 years younger than my real age. :P
Save the trees! Use reading glasses.

Hi T.Kevin,
You do? I have two actually. :) Well, aging gracefully doesn't have to do with your eyesight so don't worry about that. And I have already developed some mild case of farsightedness. :) You have a wonderful Thursday!
HI Mark,
Yes, I am very much aware of that and I was always warned by my doctor that I'd delvelop the farsightedness due to aging sooner than most poeple and I already have! Luckily, I am able to hide that fact well now :) Anyway, you have a wonderful Thursday!
Hi GaijinGirl,
Thank you very much but I am fully recovered and am functioning alright :) I am so sure I am gonna need glasses pretty soon due to farsightedness due to aging. But did you know your eyesight might get worse beause of the fake glasses? anyway, you have a wonderful Thursday!
Hi Mark,
Well, I am aging just like everybody else. It didn't show when I was in my 20s but it totally does now! :) But I am not sad or anything :-) hahaha. Anyway, you have a wonderful Thursday!
HI Gregg,
Hahaha. That's some way to put it. Thanks but I guess i need to get prepared for what's coming :) Anyway, you have a wonderful Thursday!
HI William,
Are you saying reading newspapers is bad for saving trees? WEll, I cannot live without them so sorry. You are not saying you are not using papers at all, are ya? :) Good luck on looking 3 years younger but I guess you missed my point here :-P You have a wonderful Thursday!
