Holiday Mumbling 2007

For those who have received the holiday campaign package, the website is available. :) I am super drunk tonight. I guess that Japanese white liquor did help me get super drunk :-) I am glad I was able to come back home safely alone and then uploaded this post without any errors. Or are there? :)

Happy Holidays

My Geeky workday....

You have seen the data center? I am sure not many of you actually get to go there so I thought I'd share here. My little virtual geeky tour. I am sorry if it's too geeky for you though :-( I am now operating UNIX as well. Yay. Geeks rock!! :) This is my last workday as I am taking a day off today and next Monday is a national holiday so I am having a 4-day weekend! Yay. I wish you a wonderful day! Stay hydrated! You have a very fantabulous day!!

My good excuse...

I know I was supposed to ship the holiday campaign thingy by the 15th but haven't :-( I didn't know it would take so much time to complete packing 40 packs and as seen in the photo, I have never filled out the custom forms this many before. On top of that, I had a nabe party and got drunk on Wednesday. And I went to this year end party for work on Friday and got drunk heavily. Saturday, I went drinking with this French gentleman (Sorry, Jean-Luc but you are not him :-P) and went to a wine bar and got drunk there. French wine and French dude is a nice combination. Anyway, I don't remember how many glasses we had but it was very great. And in a very long time for the very first time, I have a headache today.... You see December is a month when pepole get drunk a lot here (I am sure Japan is not the only country for this tendency). I am so sure I will be completely alcohol free next month to take good care of my liver. :-( Anyway, I hope this illustrates how busy I have become and couldn't afford my time to complete packaging 40 packs for the holiday thingy. I will have it done by the end of this week hopefully. I bought a labeling sticker sheet for the addressee labels today :) So I hope you will still be able to receive my non-exciting cheapy neo-Japanese gift by the end of this year. I am working on it. But it takes time... please be patient. Now, let me get back to the thing and wish me luck on having this done soon! I wish you a wonderful week!

Usual Japanese Winter Dinner Event this month :)

Due to one invalid entry by the duplicated post with different names with the same IP address (Yes, this is why I work as an IT geek. You cannot fool me. Sorry!), there is one open position for the holiday campaign entry :) If you haven't applied and are interested, you can enter yourself now! Just only one applicant! You snooze, you lose! You have a very fantabulous day!!

It's not that bad :)

So from today, my usual newspaper's font got a little bigger. They proudly mentioned it on the front page. To me, it looks odd as my eyesight is pretty good for a geek because if I look behind in the office and look at somebody's computer display which is about 3 meter (10 feet) away from me, I can actually read what s/he is typing:) Anyway, back to my point, the font is larger now. It takes some time for me to get used to the new bigger font. Since I am not a size queen, I don't follow the rule "the bigger, the better" but I guess there is a good reason behind this and why it has gotten bigger. I am not sure if you know but Japan faces an aging society and the country's over-65 population already stands at 26 million. More than 20 percent of the total. Ergo, more elder friendly paper since younger people rely on the internet and don't read newspapers much. Now, SOME (I say some. not all.) young insecure people in their 20s and 30s even may think aging is bad. Those want to stay young forever by singing "Forever Young". I am not against them. I was actually one of those when I was 24. So I can understand them. But I pretty much gave up on that idea and accepted about aging. Though my bottom line is that I do not want to look older than I have to. You already saw the most recent photo of me in that slide dated on the 27th of last month. (Thanks Jean-Luc. yes. I am trying to lose weight. But I know before you told me!!!) Well, I am not young anymore. So I am focusing on aging gracefully. Aging is actually good. Aged whiskey is so fantabulous. So is aged wine. I am sure having "intimate" moments with "aged" experienced guys can be a lot more enjoyable than with inexperienced young guys. See? Anyway, I don't know why I changed a subject a little from a bigger font on the newspaper...I had influenza last Satruday. I am now recovered. I hope you stay healthy! Anyway, age gracefully! You have a wonderful week!

Late Autumn/Early Winter Greetings from Tokyo!

On my way to work today (damn it. Tomorrow I will have to work, too), I decided to get up a little early and took a photo of this avenue that is about 10 min walk from my place before it's all gone. It's colder here in Tokyo this year. Ergo, more colors :)
Late Autumn/Winter greetings from Tokyo, Japan!

Look, Look what I got!!!

My cellular phone was more than 3 years old but didn't replace it because I like a cellular phone that is a "straight bar type" They haven't released anything like that for three years so I waited. From this month, they released something I wanted. It cost me a lot. 45000 Yen = US$404 = 276 Euros. Well, we don't have an iPhone here in Japan but I am okay with it because I feel this is so much better. This is from the "AU Design project" like the previous one I had. The concept for this new cell phone is "As if it is the melted candy in the mouth" I like how it feels against me but I don't rub it like I usually do every morning on something else. This phone comes with a debit card feature so if you have some credit on this cellular phone and put the phone over the ticket gate at the train station, the credit will be deducted from the phone and you don't have to buy a ticket. You can also buy things at convenience stores. But since I always have this "What if I lost my phone?", i don't have a lot of credit :-) Also, it has the 2.8Mbps internet connection with "PC Viewer" so that I can browse the internet with this phone without any stress. It has a camera but every one does recently. And and, it comes with a digital TV and an FM radio!!! I am sure some of you know I don't have a TV in my apartment. Now I do have a TV. I tried it and it looks pretty cool. In this photo, I was watching the national public television's TV show. Yay now I have a TV. :-) Though since I don't watch the TV much, I just use it when I am very bored. :-) Best thing about this cellular phone is the vibration is so strong and if you receive a call and have this phone in your pocket, it's like "oh, don't stop!" :-) if you know what I mean. Okay, my "mom, look look what I got!" moment is over. Thank you :) You have a fantastique weekend I have to work this weekend. damn it
