welcome to canada! bienvenue au canada!

you're not the only one who's annoyed with the current money issues here. everyday canadians are finding things pretty expensive too. our currency is more powerful than the american dollar however we are being asked to pay the same prices we were paying when our currency was a lot weaker. you'd think that the numerical price of goods would go down to reflect the increased buying power of the canadian dollar but it hasn't. so, for example, about a year ago, an american shopping in the US might pay US$15.00 for a CD. a canadian would pay CA$22.00. nowadays, we're still paying CA$22.00 even though that CD should now be worth around CA$14.00 because our money is stronger.

anyway, i hope you enjoy your trip to british columbia.

Welcome to Canada -- hope you get to Stanley Park in Vancouver. And yes, MANY Japanese-Canadians in BC.

Glad you're blogging again too, btw. Was looking forward to more carnal stories from your Zen theme park experience :)

I'm loving the dollar's strength -- fuck the business interests, I'm going to the US this weekend and get to buy things that are priced more cheaply than in Canada combined with the advantage of the exchange rate! :)

Hi Buddy,

Welcome to my site. Well.... I don't have a job at the moment so I am living on my savings. That's not something people should be envious of :-) You have a fantabulous week!

Hi Raph,

Thank you very much. Yeah, when I was at the airport I realized once again that French was the official language as well. BUt I didn't hear anyone speaking French instead of the TV programme I watched :-) That's really bummer that you have to pay the same price even though your currency is stronger now :-( And exchanging money is you know :-( Oh, you could use credit cards? Maybe? Anyway, you have a fantabulous week!

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much. I will be talking about the monk thingy later this week or next so stay tuned :-) That's so great that you went to the US this weekend. Did you do anything silly over this weekend? :-) I hope your weekend trip was pleasant! Mine was :-) You have a fantabulous week!

Hi T.Kevin,

Thanks very much. Yeah. Virgin America now flies from SF to DC, you know. You might wanna consider that then :-) You have a fantabulous week!

HI Sgx,

Yeah, it was really close but then fortunately, I didn't have any checked baggage so I didn't have to wait for the luggage coming out at the baggage claim this time. That saved my time :-) You have a fantabulous week!

Hi Tiptup,

Yes, I was! I enjoyed it! You have a fantabulous week!

I remember running to catch my plane in Singapore, and I ran and ran... True enough, the plane was just waiting for me... Bleh.. What are you doing in Canada again? Just to have dinner with friends? That's an expensive dinner. :)
