Ah, educational as usual! That herring is a little too 'raw' for me... *shiver*. And that toilet a little too public! I don't even like the 'trough' style ones in bars in San Francisco; I have to have a few drinks before I am brave enough to use them. Yes I am shy that way. Hope your asthma is better after your little side smoke trip. ;-)

I am sure many americans would like White Widow so when you go to Amsterdam, please do :-) Yup, I can understand how raw that herring can get. :-) I understand about the bathroom you are talking about but that's like a standard bathroom in Amsterdam and London so I got too used to it already. That raw herring looked a little to raw to me. :-)
We have a recipe in Nova Scotia called Solomon Gundy. It's pickled herring and very good!
