Last week was like a roller coaster ride. I've been coughing since I recovered from the sickness I got last month. It's been more than a month.I cannot seem to stop coughing... So I went to see a doctor and get tested. There was a shadow on my right lung for the X-ray. I realized quitting smoking (
I've been smokeless for more than a year.) was too late already. To cut the story short, there was a problem with the X-ray film. I don't have lung cancer :-) Whew. It gave me 24 hours to think about how I should prepare for the death until the blood test result came back. Anyway, the long coughing was from the preliminary stage of asthma and it should clear out with the meds I got. Though no alcohol for two weeks!!! damn. Today is Mother's Day here in Japan. So I took my parents, sister and my grandmother to a nice Japanese restaurant for lunch. It was on me. But my dad drank way too much last night and he said
"I cannot eat anything as I drank too much last night and don't feel good". I was like
"What are you? a fraternity college dude? Please think about how old you are... geez". FYI, having a hangover so much on the following day is usually considered an embarrassing thing here especially at work. So if your liver cannot handle it, you shouldn't drink too much is my motto That's why I have this super remedy for hangover :-). Anyway, Since I am alcohol free, I had to drive. I've never thought I would be a designated driver as I am usually the one who drinks. As you can see in the photo, the road is not congested and it's nice to drive in less crowded Tokyo. It would have been better if it was sunny today...oh.. I really have to wash my car but that's another story. :-) You have a wonderful "healthy" week!
what did you eat at the restaurant? all this talk about food in the last few posts makes me hungry! hope you feel better soon! I want my future husband to have a long life. :)
I'm so glad that your medical tests turned out okay! When I read about the spot on your lungs I got very worried!!
And what a good son/brother/grandson you are, taking everyone out for dinner! :)
Don't worry about the two weeks of sobriety, the two weeks will fly by, and then you can go back to your drunken ways! ;)
I could imagine the scare you got from that faulty, dirty x-ray film. Whew! Thanks for this post, it reminded me of Mother's Day back in Manila, too. So I called my mom to greet her. I think they celebrate it here in Oslo in November, so it totally slipped my mind. Thanks for the reminder!
It's Mother's Day in Canada today also.
Wow!! I'm so glad you are going to be okay. The two weeks will go by fast and think of it as a alcohol cleanse. That's got to be good for you.
PS Your dad doesn't sound like he gets embarrassed easily. :-)
i got to tease my dad one time when he complained about having a hangover. he was out with a few friends and each bought a round, including himself. i reminded him that he didn't have to buy booze on his or any other round. i loved that!
it's hard to think that a city as populous as tokyo could have any street as uncrowded as the picture shows.
i'm glad that you're on the mend and that the x-ray film was at fault rather than your lungs. it's a darned good thing you quit smoking, especially now that you're developing asthma. i hope it's very mild and doesn't bother you much if at all.
Hi Joe,
We had Sushi and Tempura. :-) Thank you very much. I am hoping I can get rid of this coughing situation by the end of this month! You have a pretty day!
HI TigerYogi,
Thanks very much. I was worried for 24 hours as well. But I kinda gave up and decided to accept whatever would come out. :-( It was a tough moment. You see I got this Johnny Walker Blue label two days ago and I am so tempted to open the bottle! Blue Label! You have a pretty day!
HI Mark,
Actually, the person who develped my film screwed up :-( That's good that you called her :-) I wonder why Mother's day varies depending on the location though :-) You have a pretty day!
HI Maggie,
That's kewl! :-) Yup, two weeks is too long for an alcohol cleansing period :-) But my hands aren't shaking so I should be okay. I saw my father earlier today and he apologized :) You have a pretty day!
Hi Naomi,
I am not sure why but in the biz district of Tokyo shown in the photo which is about 5 min drive from my place, it's not too bad on weekends. :-) Anyway, you have a pretty day!
Hi Shigeki!
What a relief about the x-ray!
And thanks for sending the hangover remedy! I needed it last weekend :-)
