Mmm, ohagi! The first time I ever tried it was in Japanese language school. I've forgotten why sensei brought it to class though. I remember thinking, "Wow, inside out mochi!" and the mochi rice on the inside was not pounded. Having eaten regular mochi for a long time this seemed so exotic and extra delicious.
Thank you for reminding me to go visit my dad.

I see, so these elegant slide shows you put on are really training sessions for your future bf? Interesting, and nice to have a chance to peak into both bf-school and your traditions at the same time :)
I must say I look forward to the not so family oriented training sessions, now that I'm on to you... ;)

I think Japan has lots of holidays... and that's not a bad thing. :-) Pretty pics and such an interesting ritual. I soooooo want to go to Japan. I heard from one of my colleagues that she's going to Japan in November to compete in a flower competition. Ugh, I'm so jealous!!! Since you shared that meal, I am all set to have Japanese on Saturday, after going to Ikea. :-)

HI Sven,
Well, they can be training sessions for my future boyfriend. It doesn't hurt :-) I am not sure what other training sessions there will be. We will see. YOu have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Mark,
Well, not too many but yeah, we happen to have more holidays because without them, workaholics in Japan would die soner. :-) I hope you will have a great Japanese meal! You have a wonderful weekend!

A sentence at the end of the text for the last slide gave you away Shigeki;
'Now you know how to go through this event if you happen to date a Japanese guy.' Then you say it's different from family to family, so this must be preparations for dating a Japanese guy in your family, no? Any gay brothers? :)

Sven,
what's wrong with me? :-)

Nothing that I can see Shigeki. Guess it's the 'brothers' that ticked you off, eh? Just narrowing down the options there... ;)

That's a cute temple, I can see why you like it. Reminds of the ones I saw in Nikko.
