Speed shaving other parts (!) of the body is even more dangerous!
I think you should use the Japanese equivalent of the English "piss off" with the HR lady.
Can I get some razor burn on a day you don't shave?
Great sketch, as usual.

'Wet shaving is bad'? I didn't know that (aside from the fact that you are scraping a razor across your skin...). I can't believe the HR lady said that; did you tell her you were growing a beard?
How was your trip? :-)

There are some companies in the US that don't allow facial hair, but, I didn't realize that it was so prevelant in Japan!
I agree with Steve. Tell the HR lady to mind her own business!

But facial hair is sexy! You should have told her that. What a stitched-up c*nt!

Have you tried a hair removal cream? I have tried a few of them on places I didn't want to use a razor and they seem to work okay for me, I am hairy so if they work for me they should be easy for you.

Why are you so interesting? I am sure that you look very sexy with you facial hair. I am very interested in figuring out how you look sometimes. Take care.

I think it was "inappropriate" for the HR lady, aka bitch, to say that to you.
A few days growth can be very sexy on some men.
If they smell and have worn the same clothes for a few days as well...........not so sexy! haha

i don't understand how wet shaving is bad for your skin... hm ... i'm going to have to look into this :-)
*smooch*

You may want to try an electric shaver. Minimal razor burns, zero bleeding. Only draw back is that it doesn't give you as close a shave as conventional razors.

What? Wet shaving isn't good for the skin? And here I'm thinking I got it made with a fogless mirror to shave with when I shower.
I also agree that it was inappropriate for the HR lady to comment about your facial hair especially if it was in front of your co-workers at the meeting. Did you sign a contract about personal grooming when you got hired? Sheesh.
Oh, and nice sketch! Maybe that is something you can entail in your next job!

That is my least favorite morning routine also. I have wanted to remove the hair on my face by lazer but I am afraid :(

Shigeki- I never worry about shaving and my morning shadow has never come up in conversation. I guess I would never survive in Japan. -Gregg

I know how you feel! I get the same treatment and being an Asian as well ! I am not clean shaven - instead I am quite hairy and I need to shave everyday to stay clean shaven! So how did Asians get lumped into the category as smooth??!!! But having said that I am proud to be hairy as a caucasian!! :-)
So to your HR lady - say pissed off!

Hi Steve,
Hold on a sec. Was there an opportunity for you to "speed shave" other parts? That would be too dangerous :-) I wish I could say that but there is an old saying here in Japan. If I translated it directly, it would mean "Don't leave any garbage when you leave". So I can act pretty and calm :-) I don't get it... how would you get razor burn on a day I don't shave??? You have a pretty day!
Hi T.Kevin,
Well, I am sure it totally depends on the skin. But my skin is sensitive and wet shaving does cause more damage on the skin. And I see the results. That's what I was told. Well, I am not supposed to grow a beard so I told her I am sorry. :-( My trip was tiring as it was a day trip to Hong Kong without staying there!! It was ridiculous. You have a pretty day!
Hi TigerYogi,
Really? But it could get worse than that. Some Japanese companies order you to wear a certain color and shape of a suit. If you violate it, you have to go back home and change it!!! :-) Fortunately, I work for an american company so it's not strict like that :-) I didn't tell her to piss off as I want to resign pretty :-) You have a pretty day!
HI Mark,
Sure, true but when it's a day old, it's not good in my case. :-( The HR lady is very uptight so if I said that, I am sure this would be reported to my director... You have a pretty day!
Hi James,
Thanks for the suggestion but I do have sensitive skin so I don't think those hair removal products would do any good from my personal experiences. However, there is one sugar hair removal salon for men by men in London! I should probably go there and try their services! Or have you ever been there? But I didn't know you were hairy. Can I verify that, please? You have a pretty day!
Hi Rebelguy38,
Really? I don't find myself particularly interesting... It's all about non-exciting scribbles so don't expect anything interesting/exciting here :-) But thanks! I am sure I am just an average Tokyoite who works like a workaholic. :-) You have a pretty day!
Hi Maggie,
True, it is very inappropriate for her to say that but then she is the one who told me to wear something more appropriate when it was so hot in the office last summer and when I was wearing a sleeveless shirt AFTER biz hours. Oh well. You might wanna change the opinion about those smelly and having worn the same clothes for some time IF they are incredibly hot! no? You have a pretty day!
Hi Vuboq,
I am sure it's not bad for your skin but it's for my sensitive problematic skin. So I don't wet shave. Electric shavers are not good, either. So I pluck these days when I have to. :-) It's a painful time consuming procedure but it works best for me as my hair is thick... You have a pretty day!
HI Falennery,
That's what I was exactly suggested by my doctor yesterday!!. Thank you. Though I have never used an electric shaver before. I am gonna have to buy one first :-) You have a pretty day!
Hi LaneO,
Well, I am sure it's not bad for every skin on this planet but my dermatologist told me it was for mine. I guess she wanted to be mean like that as that's her talent. :-) My sketch is sloppy. It's nowhere close to being able to earn money but thanks! You have a pretty day!
Hi Cesar,
Hahaha. I am not actually afraid of removing the hair but I don't want it to be permanent, you know. So I think I am still sticking with the old fashion way. You have a pretty day!
Hi Gregg,
That's so great that you can keep your morning shadow as the way you like. I cannot do that. :-( Well, I know many companies allow you to have beards and all but not mine. That's all so if you have to, you will be able to survive in Japan :-) You have a pretty day!
HI Paul,
I think I would like to see how thick it can get but since I am working :-( You have a pretty day!
Hi Ian,
What's up with that stereotypical thing about being super smooth? :-) A friend of mine who is Asian (well, genetically speaking) is very smooth. And his skin is actually fantabulous. Life is not fair after all. You have a pretty day!
