I almost died from the shock!!!

This chocolate cake was from my sister last night. (She said she would be busy today with her boyfriend. alright. alright). She was actually waiting for me to come home. It's a very common for gilrs to give chocolate to boys on St. Valentine's day as I said yesterday. Based on that weird rule here, my sister bought me and my dad this fantabulous chocolate cake. This is my favorite chocolate cake from the nice chocolatier near my parents'. It's St. Valentine's day. Speaking of which, what song do you come up with when you think of this day? I assume many would say "My Funny Valentine". When you ask the same question to Japanese, the answer would be different. Many would say "Valentine Kiss". (Warning. Her singing sucks) This idol back in the 80s sang this song on St. Valentine's day and ever since then, this song is frequently played on radio..etc. on this special day. I was 11 when she was actually singing this. When I was wasted several years ago, I did sing this with the perfect choreography at a homo bar... But that's another story... Anyway, this 26 year old girl at work went "huh? I don't know this song." when I talked about this. I was shocked!! I thought most of Japanese were supposed to know this song....She must have been too young....But she was mean and told me "A Gerneation gap. That's all". I could have shot her.... But I told myself I had to admit I was old. This finding was more shoking than the horrible singing by this idol. So when I got this cake, I asked my sister, who is by the way, 4 years younger than this stupid girl, the same question. My sister said "Doesn't everybody know this song?" Whew! The girl was just ignorant!!! Ergo, this song is the signature song on St. Valentine's day here in Japan. :-) Happy Humping Valentine's day!

It's not really much of a generation gap, she's not much younger than you. I think she is just stupid :-)

Isn't White Day where men get flowers or chocolates for girlfriends? That's coming up soon, right?

Anyway, when I was a kid, I loved listening to the oldies station, that played lots of 50s and 60s pop, so I have an appreciation for motown and stuff.... I honestly hope that girl listens to better stuff than Japanese pop....

I'm so glad to find out that you're not old! ;)

Enjoy your cake!! :)

Ya, you're right. She's not that good. But then, when I was much younger and Kayōkyoku was popular here in Hawaii, I used to love Junko Sakurada. (And secretly lust for Hideki Saijyo)
At least your sister was thoughtful of you and your dad. So will you be returning the gesture on March 14th? I believe that is your style. ネ?!
Lane

If you are old, what am I then? A centurion????

Anyway, sounds like she is so not in tune with all the Valentine stuff!! She might as well stay at home and rot!! :-)

You ain't old, you just ain't young. For that you can be thankful!

"Generation gap"?!?!??! HOW RUDE! What a terrible child!

Hi Fashmagslag,

nope. It isn't :-) I am glad that she is just stupid. White Day is March 14th and yes, men who received crap are supposed to giver them something more expensive. I don't know who invented this thing... :-( After 21 years, she sang the same song the day before yesterday! She didn't sound bad the other night :-) Have a pleasant day!

Hi TigerYogi,

I am okay to find out I am old. :-) I am already prepared for what's coming so I won't have to slash my wrist :-) Have a pleasant day!

HI LaneO,

She wasn't good but she is better :-) Junko Sakurada? wow. that's THE generation gap :-) Yes, I will have to return something nicer on that day. Some people are supposed to give back something way more expensive like Cartier's watch? I am glad I am not a straight dude :-) Have a pleasant day!

Hi Ian,

Well, you are a few years older so I guess there isn't much difference :-) Nope, she wasn't good at all at the time but she sang the same song the day before yesterday! She sounded good actually though :-) Have a pleasant day!

Hi Steven,

So what does that make me? huh....But I am not scared of being old so that's okay :-) Have a pleasant day!

Hi Goblinbox,

Yup. Generation Gap. That's so rude. Well, she is rude like that as always so ... have a pleasant day!
