Working werid...

Do you see what this is? This is where I am. Before landing at the airport, this was the view I was able to see from my seat. When you fly into Sydney, I'd suggest you to take the right window seat. :-) So, yes, I am here in Sydney, Australia. I am in the office working already. I hope my prada suit looks pretty for nerds. They should know what Prada is. :-P BTW, I am not used to Australian English. I mean I tried but I couldn't. It's because English is not my mother tongue, and my brain is draining from my ears. I am not quite sure how I can describe this. But every time I hear a sentene, there is a pause until I understand what it is. There has to be some lag to understand what I just heard. I mean that pause should be 0.03 secs or less but it's not quite exactly as the same as I communicate with Americans. Ergo, I feel strange and weird when I have to talk with them. On a different note, I heard the homo population is huge here in Sydney. I haven't had a chance to go out and see people walk by. But the front desk person at the hotel I am staying was EXTREMELY hot. Anyway, I have to pretend to be a deligent worker today so I guess I won't do anything fun much. Too bad, I cannot use "jet lag" as an excuse so I don't have to go to dinner with my staff as there is only one hour difference between Tokyo and Sydney. Today's post is not much but I should be able to post something different tomorrow. Good day! (I just heard it... and it's very different...)

don't worry, shigeki. you're not the only one who has problems understand australians when they speak. even native speakers of english from other places cannot easily understand australians.

a guy from perth, australia went on an exchange to my department at school a little under two years ago. i had the biggest problem understanding him. often, i had to ask him to repeat what he was saying because a lot of his words were just too incomprehensible to me.

Shigeki-san, welcome to Sydney! May I suggest these two places in Sydney where you can have meaningful exchanges with Australians up close and personal to improve your oral skills!!! Both of them are in the CBD and are quite busy during the day so you can go in between your business meetings.
- City Steam (http://sydneycitysteam.com.au/)
357 Sussex Street, Sydney, 2000.
- King Steam
38 Oxford St, Darlinghurst 2010

Have a g'day mate! And do try to post pics of you and the frond desk guy NAKED! :)

That view is totally awesome,,looks like a sort of graphic, not real..
Hope you could enjoy your 'mini vacation' as much as possible, safely!

Enjoy Sydney!!!

I'm sure that you will be able to overcome the language barrier and find someone nice to play with! ;P

Have fun in Sydney. I heard they have a great gay pride parade, its to bad you missed it.

Ooooohhh... Sydney, a city where if you're straight, you're the minority. Fun!

And trust me, nobody outside Australia can understand the Aussie accent, especially when their pubs open at 11 o'clock in the morning.

Awesome view of the Opera House btw. Saw that view on my previous transit in Sydney as well, it was totally fantabulous.

OMG. I think I went to City Steam before.

But anyway, you great traveller! I am so envious!

nv envy u:P my brother is in Australia i wished i was there we could have met...enjoy:)

The devil wears prada..........looking good I bet. :-)
Have fun.......down under. :-) You know what I mean jellybean?

*sighs*...I wish I were smarter and had a job where I could travel like you do. Man, the places you get to go!

Have a great time in Sydney!

As a side note, I don't find Aussies hard to understand at all. Although, I did grow up in the Southern US. Maybe that has something to do with it...hm...;0)

Wow what a sight. Now, I want to see Shigeki in a Prada suit! ;-)

Hi Raph,

What's weird is that it totally differs the leve of me being able to understand depending on the person whom I talk to. huh... But I find it darn hard. Well, it

doesn't mean I do well when I communicate with Americans though... Anyway, you have a super great weekend!

HI Colin,

Oh, you live in Sydney? I didn't know. :-) Thanks for mentioning those "instant-friends-making" spots. I'd love to go on my lunch break but ever since I went to

one of those places last time, I am very anxious to go due to health risk. I saw something unpleasant floating in the shower room... Anyway, you have a super

great weekend!

HI Steve,

Thank you, mate. (I am not used to hearing "mate" at the end of the sentence and it makes me uncomfy actually...) That front desk guy is too super good looking

to do anything with me unfortunately. :-( Anyway, you have a super great weekend!

HI Leigh,

Wasn't it wonderful? It was a very great sight for sure. :-) I am not sure if I get a mini vacation but I will see about that. You have a super great weekend!

Hi Hanuman1960,

Thank you very much. Hahaha. That's so true. The language won't be an issue when it comes to that but haven't done anything about it yet. :-) You have a super

great weekend!

Hi Cesar,

Thanks very much. I guess it was held earlier in this year? Well, every hotel room would be expensive if I came here around that time. :-) So I am all good. You

have a super great weekend!

HI Flannery,

They do open at 11 o'clock in the morning? Wow. What a heavenly place this is! :-) Though I haven't gotten boozed much yet since I was too tired yesterday. But

I will appreciate those pubs later this weekend hopefully. You have a super great weekend!

Hi Paul,

Really? How was it? Anything paritcularly interesting? I heard it was for Asian and Asian chasers. Anyway, travelling for biz is not that fantabulous actually.

Take my word, really. You have a super great weekend!

HI NV,

He is? I hear this is a great country (I haven't explorered it much yet) You have a super great weekend!

HI Maggie,

I wonder if I want to watch that movie. Down under. Yeah, that's so naughty. :) I wonder if I would do anything "down under" here in down under. :-) You have a

super great weekend!

Hi Jason,

I am not smart to get this job actually. It's just English speaking people with technical background is a little scarce in Japan. That's why. You are so great

in languages. That doesn't surprise me that you don't find it hard. I am envious! You have a super great weekend!

Hi TK,

Well, if I posted a photo of me in the suit, you wouldn't say "what a sight" for sure. So it's better without it. :-) You have a super great weekend!

Wow, Sydney! Cool! I spent 5 days there a fews years back, I loved it; Australia is a great place. It is strange how different the accent is though. In the UK we get a lot of Australian TV programmes, so from an early age we get used to the Aussie accent! Plus in London these days, if you go into a bar you're either served by someone from Australia, or Poland!

I'll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

As I site possessor I believe the content matter here is rattling magnificent , appreciate it for your efforts. You should keep it up forever! Good Luck.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it'll do even better in those areas, but for now it's a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod's strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

Good website! I truly love how it is simple on my eyes and the data are well written. I'm wondering how I might be notified whenever a new post has been made. I have subscribed to your RSS which must do the trick! Have a nice day!

Sorry for the huge review, but I'm really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it's the right choice for you.

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of "neighbors" will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

If you're still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you'll know which is right for you.
