Graceful sushi dinner. :-)
Tue, 12 September 2006
so I went to fish store to pick up some fish yesterday (Yes, I sometimes cook by myself even though I am not good at it), I was going to do some Tuna sushi salad. But I couldn't believe what I saw. The price of Tuna was ridiculously expensive. I asked the clerk why. She told me it's getting more expensive because Tuna Sushi is becoming more popular worldwide and tuna is getting scarce. Wow.... On a different note, I will change my blog patter from tomorrow so I will probably blog in the evening before going to bed. I wonder if there is any mood change for that. Anyway, you have a wonderful Tuesday!!05:50 AM E-learning, Food/Drinks, Neo-Japanese | Permalink | Comments (20) | (0)

OMG!! I DO THAT!! I've always dipped the gari first, then wrapped it in the sushi (my favorite is saki maki) and eaten it! SWEEEEEEEEEET!! I've finally done something right...'bout damn time, huh?
Have a good one, S!

OMG! I said your blog was brilliantly educational! This is exactly the problem which has been perplexing me - thank you for your most illuminating lesson.

Awwww... wakarimas.... !!! That makes so much sense... the problem is how do I feed sushi to my gaijin boyfriend elegantly when we're both in bed? w
Shigeki-san, please don't sacrifice your bed-time for blogging. There must be so many nicer things to do in bed besides writing on your laptop!

That is very handy. I have been soaking the bottom of my sushi roll all this time, to think I wasn't being pretty :(
I am going out for sushi tomorrow, I will try the using the ginger as a brush.

HEY!!! That's what I do to my sushi too!! You mean it's some classified Fabulous Etiquette Secret?? I just dip the whole piece of pickled ginger into the soy sauce, fish it out dripping wet and slather it all over my sushi. Fantabulous!
Hehe.
Posted by: Flannery at September 12, 2006 11:45 AM
well, I was half right - i would sprinkle a bit of soy sauce on top of my ikura etc, but not any more! I'm taaking the Shigeki-suggested-gari-with-the-soy-sauce-route!
勉強になりました。さすが、Shigeki-san!

What a great idea! Such an educational blog! I'm sure you could teach me so many more things :)

あぁ~~ Seen this on one of the TV programs on how to eat sushi in "style" without offending the master. Brings back good memories. Thanks Shigeki! Gonna go off for some sushi today, definately. But seldom you find good "sushi" around here, if you know what I mean *wink*

Fun and educational as usual,Shigeki!
"Teacher! How do I eat sushi fantabulously?" :-)
I must try this next time, as I hate the unpretty rice in my soy sauce as well.

YUM YUMMMY...we are not enjoying sushi these days...not being able to import fresh fish from abroad because of the ....well the situation of love we have around us lately...but since the siege was lifted a few days ago things will start to move soon...Amazingly every 5 minutes theres a plane landing here after the siege had ended! anyway i miss sushiiiii...will have some soon i hope! as for the fantabulous way of eating i had never had a problem with the shopsticks i find it classy and elegant...i usually mix wassabi with soy sauce then dip the sushi in...and the rice doesnt fall down...like most of my friends experience:) but i heard the sushi should not be dipped in soy sauve only the Sushi's! i love temakis:P:P:P

Shigeki- Thank you for the sushi lesson. I have managed to get passed the rice mess in the soy sauce by grabbing the sushi at the very bottom with my chopsticks and pinching it shut. This keeps the rice from spilling out. I like your idea better, though. -gregg

Oh geez, that's brilliant! Thanks for the tip! Now I am craving for some sushi.

HI Jason,
OH MY GOD! You are genius! I had never done that before so it was an eye opener for sure. :-) You are more neo-Japanese than I am. :-) I am so proud of you. You have a fantabulous day!
HI Hedgie,
Brilliantly? seriously? :-) BUt thanks for the compliment. Yeah, I had the same problem, I mean I am not a lousy chopstick user or anything but. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Colin,
Yeah, it does, doesn't it? But I couldn't figure that out by myself unfortunately. :-( Well, I have no idea as I have never fed sushi to anyone in bed. :-P I don't sacrifice my bed time for blogging at all actually. I skipp posting when I am too busy so don't worry. :-) YOu have a fantabulous day!
Hi Cesar,
Oh yeah, isn't it? I think I quickly dipped the sushi before it falls off. :-) Don't worry many aren't pretty in this arena even Japanese. I hope you will have great Sushi. Have a fantabulous day!
HI Falnnery,
That's kewl. You are genius as well. I don't think it's fabulous etiquette as some who can handle don't use this thing. :-) For those who happen to let the rice fall all the time use this thing. :-) I am one of them. Anyway... You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Hyakunicncho (seriously, that's the name of the town in the ward I used to live.)
That's kewl that you got to know something fantabulous suggested by a friendly sushi chef. :-) I hope it will be convenient for you. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Steve,
Isn't it? If you are anxious to do anything uncomfy, just ask and they will help you. :-) I'd love to teach you something so private but that has to be done in a particular place. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
HI TK,
Thank you, TK. I am not sure if you eat Sushi often but when you do, impress your friends with this thing. :-) I am sure you will be proud of yourself. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi NV,
I am sorry you don't have a lot of access to SUshi but gradually you will. :-) I don't love Sushi to be honest but I can eat it. :-) And I hope you had great sushi yesterday! I don't mix wasabi with soysauce when it's not a paste wasabi. Because I don't wanna kill the aroma of both Wasabi and soysauce. But when you do that with Sashimi, mixing it with soysauce is very common. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Hanuman1960,
oh, you don't? Well, there are vegan Sushi available, are there? I hope so because some are vegan for sure. :-) Anyway, when you have a chance, please try. you have a fantabulous day!
HI Gregg,
That's great that you didn't have to mess up the rice in the soysauce dip. :-) That's brilliant. I am proud of you. When you go to Sushi, please try this as well but whichever comfy should be the way to go, really. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Mark,
I think I should appreciate the Sushi chef who was very friendly the other night. To be honest, if I didn't have a blog, I woulnd't have asked this question to him and then just mess up the rice again. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Jinjiruks,
Welcome to my blog. :-) Well, it used to be 3000 yen = 27 US dollars = 20 Euros per one single piece from which you could make about 20 Tuna Sushis but 3000 Yen can only afford the low end quality one these days. :-( You have a fantabulous day!
HI Paul,
That's great you go traditional. Just don't put your hand near my nose. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
