The hosting server service I am subscribing seems to be having problems lately. Whenever I contact them, they never ever ever say "sorry". How fun. By the way, I talked about "this" today, and it seems I am mistakenly in because my art skil is not brilliant obviously by looking at those sketches. (Seriously, I am not proud of them but I thought I'd do this regularly to deliver a non-exciting message in a not-so-digital way). Anyway, I think I was very lucky. :-) I will have to sleep on it. congratulations on being accepted! you really are a talented drawer. i can't draw my way out of a wet paper bag, even my stick figures suck.
hanuman is right. you have your current career that you're happy with, and it'll still be there after if you want to return to it.
making changes is hard, and creates many headaches. however, i'm 45 and in school too. :) trust yourself, shigeki.
I "third" the motion. Someday when you're a big and famous artiste, we can all say, "We knew Shigeki way back when..." Go for it!
Shigeki, I have three university degrees, all taken as an adult, all taken only after quitting career jobs.
DO IT. Even if you don't ever make art a full time pursuit, you should chase this opportunity. It sounds wonderful and you'll be much more qualified (than you already are!) to paint my portrait!
Good luck with your decision. If your head hurts it's because you're using your head too much on this one :) Try your heart! Follow your passion on this one and you'll make the right decision.

Shigeki-san. I agree with Steve. I have watched him and others go get degrees as 'grown ups' and I myself finished my one lonely degree when I was over thirty (I was fortunate not to be the oldest graduand at the ceremony, as when one woman's name was called, some teenage boys yelled out "yaay Grandma!!" Do it, quit, travel, study, enjoy, learn. Because in 4 years (or whenever it is done) if you want you'll still be qualified to do this job you have now. Jobs can be found anywhere, any time. Dreams need to be chased.
Go chase your dreams my friend! This opportunity will hardly come up again! Don't think too hard, Take it easy in the weekend and as Steve said - follow your heart! Sometimes the heart makes the right decision without you knowing!

That's a tough dilemma sweetie.
On one hand, a job you like with an income. You love Japan, your friends, family, familiar routines, etc.
On the other hand, exploring a part of yourself that is exciting but scary. It's all about dreams. Some reach out, others take the safe way.
If you really want it, go for it. Age is irrelevant.

congratulations shigeki! sure is tough changing fields altogether when you're already comfortable and successful. but think of how much more excited you would be. good luck with the decision!
You should totally go for this. Just do it. Don't worry about age in the least. I got my BA at 28, my MA at 29, and now I'm working on my Ed.S at 30. Education is a lifelong process, and you should pursue it.
And I don't know about anyone else, but dude, YOU CAN DRAW. Be proud of that, and go with it. Just remember, I get to come to a gallery opening...;)
Now, I'm going back to practice my stick men drawings.

i suggest that you go and try it out. you can always return to the job you currently have (if not at that company, then at another). but, how often can you get into graduate school?
anyway, whichever decision you decide to make, you have my support.

Wow, you got three degrees after you became an adult? Wow. If the school was in Tokyo, it's no brainer. But moving to Europe is such a hard thing to do considering I don't speak the local language there. I think studying at the age of 31 years old is not that hard but I cannot do part time and I have to move out of this country.
