It's a clean place. Really.

It's another not so "wet" today while it is supposed to be raining so hard like it should every year. It's weird. My Seattle friend went to Mt. Fuji this morning by driving my car. Does he know he has to stay on the left side of the road here in Japan? I am very worried about my car him. I hope my car he will be back safely.... Anyway, it's interesting that I get to do more neo-Japanese thingies than I usually do because of my friend. So here it is. It's kinda dull but this is the only thing I came up with this morning. I have gramatical errors as usual but it's too late to fix them now... Well, yes, I did badly in English 101... :-( I hope you are not my English professor.... :-( You have a gorgeous day!

that's odd. i use firefox and have flash set up so that i control when it starts. it's one of the nice features of firefox. usually it runs quite happily, however, this time i got nothing, just a blank area.

Thanks Naomi. There was a problem with coding and I fixed it. :-) I love those who can QA for me. Thank you!

You're both amusing and educational! *giggle*

いい湯だな~いい湯だな~
First sento/onsen experience was with my university mates. One was Korean and had a really nice body and *ehem ehem*. Was really trying my very best not to wake up the little brother. The only problem is when you go to all the onsen in the very rural areas, everyone stares at you coz you are the only gaijin around. And the only thing you can do is just smile, while they give you the "disgusted" look. That's when you "show" and they get amazed! Hahaha!

why does your towel fall off when you have a cool drink? But it was a very funny presentation... lol

I hope your car's ok

I remember going to my first public bath back in 1990. I was so self-conscious of being naked in front of strangers, but it lasted all of 5 minutes. I gave myself a good talking to: "Girl, you just spent the last 3 months getting buck nekkid with your boyfriend every night. These are WOMEN...get over it!!!!!"

Still, I don't think I can go to a public bath with my mom or sisters. I sometimes get weirded out going with friends. I would rather be naked in front of strangers instead of people who know me!

I rented a car and drove for the first time in ages. No problems staying on the right (meaning left, of course) side of the road for me! But Toyota told me they'd charge me 20,000 yen if I scratched the car, and 50,000 yen if I totalled it. I thought to myself that if I am in an accident, I'm going to have fun and total it. Luckily, nothing happened, but it was about 20,000 yen for 18 hours for their Corolla with the broken CD player. GRRRRRRRRRRRR.

As always, you are so educational!!

One question. How often are the stools, that you sit on to clean yourself before the bath, cleaned?

I would think with so many bottoms using the same stool that you could pick up some disease! :(

I'm so glad I read a book on japanese bath procedures before entering the sento! Yes, I have done it and I'm not ashame of going there again! I was at boarding school ages ago and so was pretty use to see naked guys walking around and having baths!! And those days, I kept my eyes pretty low so as to not to stare.....hehehhe

And being a closeted homo, yes, the little brother was pretty calm....:-) ....Sad to say there was no cutie on that day! I was probably the cutest one ...hehehehe! :-)

Sounds like a lot of trouble to go thru, just for a bath. Good thingy you have your own. :) I can't imagine being in one that was 42 degrees celsius , especially on a hot day! The Swedish have hot saunas or baths but follow with a cold bath . I do that in my shower every day, very hot water followed by cold, very invigorating.

BTW, You are a very good friend. That's why Seattle man keeps coming back. :)

as always, so informational and so funny!

Can't say that I am a fan of the onsen... Many years ago, I visited some folks in Hiroshima, and they decided to go to this onsen up in the hills outside the urban center.

I am a somewhat large-framed person - and if the tiny stools weren't already small enough so as not to support my beefy rear end, the bathing pool had these pre-formed seats inside of it... that were quite tight for me to sit in. My hosts jokingly said something to the effect that not having a typical Japanese "wajiri" (small butt cheeks) was a disadvantage.

And getting over the nakedness issue? I'm generally not shy, being comfortable with my anatomy... but out of respect for Japanese politeness, I covered myself.

But it seems that more than a few people were curious to see what was under my tiny towel. I also tried not to stare ... aside from "noticing" one particular young man who seemed quite proud of his rather enormous "thing". Unfortunately, I also could not help but to notice the extremely toned condition of his rear end; if that bath had been of other circumstances, I might have wanted to do some friendly things with him.

He and one of his somewhat average endowed and uncovered buddies seemed to enjoy walking about the facility uncovered... I think a few of the oyaji that might have been the "regular guests" complained about the "rudely uncovered young men" more than the large-framed gaijin sharing thier water.

As for those young men, they were a bit troublesome in that I had to hop into the cold water pool to keep the "little brother" asleep.

I think the very hard hitting advice you gave would be keeping junior soft even when there are hotties around. I tried to do that, once, though in a different setting (but left me butt naked, too) and all I kept saying/visualizing in my mind is v****a, v****a, v****a. It works! ^_^

If you allow "thing" to get hard it will help you from letting the towel fall off :)

As usual, VERY useful educational, ah, tool you have provided.

the one and only onsen I went to was in taiwan. the attendants pampered me because I was foreign and weird! hahaha. but it was fun. like a diy spa trip. although I did chicken out of the cold bath. apparently dipping into the extra hot one and then the cold one gives you soft skin...

hhaha, cute. I've always want to try that.
you know, in High School, everyone in the Physical Eduication are required to SHOWER at the end of the class.
Bummer me, I didn't even thought about naked bodies or anything. I just mind my own business and shower, stripped, walk around naked and stuff.....

not that I was proud of my body or anything. i just wasn't thinking. :)

Hi Goblinbox,
Thank you very much but I like to share some things that Lonely Planet doesn't cover. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Hafiz Hector,

hahaha. :-) that's great that you got to have a great experience in the public bath even if sex was not involved. And well done to control your thingy. Do they stare at you, foreigner, in that way? How rude! Or maybe, they are jealous of your thingy. I know I would smile back at you. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi AJ,

Well, when I wrppaed the towel around my waist loosely when I got out several years ago, and when I was cooling down, it felt right off like that. :-) That's why. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi JR,

Welcome to my site! Yes, my car was very okay. What a relief. oh... that friend, too. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Gaijingirl,

I think I got used to being naked under most circumstances unless it's inappropriate. :-) Being naked is great. But I don't do anything inappropriate for the record. Too bad that rented car was not equipped with a CD player. My friend was impressed with my Japanese car. Though I'd love to drive something more masculine that that. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Hanuman,

Thank you very much but it's not totally the useful information to be honest. :-) Well, usually, the public bath has this anti-germ soap so you can just wash the stool before you use. But I wonder if there is any report that you could get disease from that... i hope not. You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Ian,

That's good that you learnt all that from the book you bought. I tried to capture the great images of the guys in the shower room when I was there in any way possible to enjoy those captured images in my head later when I am alone. :-) Wow, you have a gorgeous bod, wonderful healthy knees :p, and you were the cutest one in there. You should definitely upload your photo on your blog. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

HI Maggie,

Once you are used to it, it's no trouble. :-) Yeah, it's pretty hot. But real Tokyoites prefer hotter water for some reason. That's what I heard at least. But it's not really great for your body as the best bathing would be to bathe in mild heated water for a longer time. You know I've tried that "taking hot shower and followed by cold" at the gym but I only worry about my thingy getting smaller than I'd like it to be. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Raph,

Thank you very much. I hope it helped you understand how to take a bath here. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Seekeronos,

I am sorry that you are not a fan of Onsen. To be honest, neither am I. It's totally erotic what you could see through the tiny towel even if it's not totally visible. :) Some people are very into themselves so they act so proud while their bods are not that great. :-) weird. Oh, the same thing can be said in my usual gym locker room. :-) Anyway, you have a fantabulous day!

HI Mark,

So, that's the trick you try when you control your thing. :-) Well, for some reason, vagina doesn't gross me out. huh... I always imagine pigones eating vomit on the street. That is gross enough to keep it soft. :-) You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Steve,

Oh, that's totally true but since the towel to wrap the waist is so small, I think there will not be enough room if you are hard. :-) Thanks very much. I try to make it educational but it turns into something associated with my own curiosity as always. :-( You have a fantabulous day!

HI Tiptup,

That's very nice of the attendants at the spa to help you out. :-) I would be worried about heart attack or something if I have to dip in so I cannot understand those Scandinavian people dipping in the cold lake after getting out of the sauna... huh.. You have a fantabulous day!

Hi Wayne,

I constantly tried to capture what I was able to look in there. :-) So I could entertain myself with those images in my head later on the same day alone. :-) God, you should have enjoyed it instead of doing business like a robot. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
