I had this medical condition last Saturday. Shooting pain in my chest. It was a clot. I run regularly and only allow myself a greasy imported food (KFC) once a month. Look what work stress could do to ya! Thankfully, it was not as serious as it sounds. I got out of the hospital today. I am as good as new
for a 30 year old guy... By the way, I realized Gaijin (meaning foreigners in Japan...no offense, foreigners.) can take very good photos of something very Japanese. Since I was born here, my neo-Japanese category is not as cool as their photos. Anyway, Detox-ing is very happening in Japan as well. There is this iced tea sold at a convenience store. This tea is supposed to get rid of excessive alcohol and heroin in your body. um...nope, that's not it. This tea is supposed to get rid of body wastes. I drink this twice a day. It actually works. :-) My skin is glowing. The package
*blush* on the left in the photo is Kanten jelly. Kanten is made out of a kind of seaweed and it's gelatin like. completely 100% vegan. It can be used as the substitute of geltain when you make jello, and it is 0 calorie. contains a lot of dietary fiber. If you try to smell it hard like sniffing cocaine, you could smelll something seaweedy. But it's not disgusting because the aroma is very subtle. So these are my detoxing routines. I love Kanten. You should make Orange jello with Kanten instead of geltain if you could get one. By the way, have any of you tried colon cleansing? That's some detoxing I'd love to try. I am not afraid of that as I am not straight if you know what I mean.... :-) Take good care of your body :-) Happy Blue Monday!
Oh, I hope that doesn't recur, Shigeki. I rarely get chest pains and each time I do, I just shrug it off. Me bad... You referring to enema? I got picqued and started doing it after viewing some Japanese *ehem... Further research revealed that it's healthy and that even Princess Di receives one 3 times a week. :-) Stay healthy and take care! Mwah!
Is that what we're calling a certain sexual practice now -- colon cleansing?
Hope your heart is feeling better, and yer, ah, well colon!
Happy Monday.
Did they tell you to take anything to prevent this from happening again?
I started a detox-ing program yesterday. Water, lemon juice, cayenne pepper. The pepper speeds up the metabolism . I did the colon cleansing thing last year. I felt so good I swore I would never put any processed food in my body again.
I did though. :-)
Ai-Ya!
I had no idea it was that serious! It just shows that it can happen to anyone!
My friend Vegan Momma has been posting a lot about colon cleansing the last two months! Here is her site:
http://www.veganmomma.com/blog/
Check her April, May and June 2006 archives.
Also, thanks for the info on the vegan gelatin substitute! :)
Wow, Shigeki, what exactly was this blood clot and what was your treatment? Sounds scary. Maybe I should do the tea thing.
The 'colon cleansing' is called a 'colonic' and it's quite a bit more, um, thorough, than an enema. I think Janet Jackson used to get coffee colonics, and they are like a big shot of caffiene because it's absorbed directly from the intestine.
Apparently Usher the R&B singer gets colonics all the time too. Hmm.
Enough about that for one day!

Are you under a lot of stress cos of your work..?I thought it's not that extreme one..cos when I read your writings, it makes me smile, usually.
Even though it seems you feel a bit down, you don't forget humour..I think.
You know, mental stress have an effect on your body..
'Clot'..you're only 30 years old..!
Please take care of your mental health.;
I'll try that tea and Kanten..by the way,why did you write *blush*(especially in pink) next to the'package'?I wonder..sorry for my poor sense..;-)
Shigeki
i'm glad you're feeling better, and frankly i can think of other things to stuff up your ass to make you de-stress other than vegan jell-o. however that's just me.
Yipes.
I can't say that that having several gallons of any kind of fluid put into my back side sounds very enjoyable at all. And of course, like all things that go "up", it will have to "come down", and that (for me) is on the enjoyment scale with say... smashing my big toe with mallet?
But the Kanten sounds like a good idea. I will have to check around the Japanese supermarket I shop at (Mitsuwa) to see if they have some. Is it similar to tokoroten?
OMG! I'm glad it sounds like you are ok now, but that must have been scary!
I've seen those drinks. Never had one, as you know, I'd addicted to Ito En's Oi Ocha or the Suntory green tea (cold). I also have a stresdul job and while I do like greasy food (who doesn't), try to eat lots of fruit, veg, soy like miso and tofu and drink lots of water.
Anyway, I hope you are not working today- you need some rest!!
Wow Shigeki, I thought it was odd that you hadn't posted for a couple of days, but didn't think it was that serious! I'm glad to hear that you're ok now. You have to look after yourself!
As my older co-workers used to say to me, "It's no use being a martyr. If you keel over at work, do you think the company will suffer without you? NO! They'll just go out and hire someone else to do your part."
Balance, my friend, balance (and yet it's so easy for me to forget that simple word). O daiji ni!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Mark,
Thank you very much. I don't think I had ever had such a chest pain before in my life so :-) Enema doesn't sound right. The word only makes me think of one thing which is not for medical purposes... :-) I think I will try that some time as I wanna. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Steve,
I have no idea if it's ever going to be a practice at all. But it wouldn't hurt to try :-) My heart is alright. I had a clot near my lung unfortunately. That was not pleasant but I guess I am back on track. Thanks. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Maggie,
Well, they told me not to stay up late and not get stressed. What I should consume, What I shouldn't... blah blah blah. did you do that last year? wow, impressive. Now, I really wanna try that. :-) I am sure I will keep having processed food. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Hanuman1960,
Yup, if your daily life is not really healthy, anyone could get it. Watch out. :-) Thanks for the rereference, Hanuman. I will definitely check that out. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi T.Kevin,
The treatment for this bloog clot near my lung was to "melt" it with the medication. I don't think the detoxing tea would help much though. :-) You know so much about colonics. Thanks for the info. :-) I don't think I'd love to try the caffeine one, but I really would love to do that some time. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Leigh,
Yeah, I've been working 14-18 hours a day. that might be it. Thank you very much for shouting my real age so much. :-) hahaha. I am very old compared to you. The package could mean "male bulge" some time. :-) "Wow, that guy has a huge package!" as you could sometimes see it, no? You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Mark,
Thank you very much. Well, I don't think I'd ever wanna try to put the jello up in my butt. Nope. that would be too weird. However, I'd love to try that thing. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Seekeronos,
Well, the idea of it is not really pleasant if you try to imagine. I agree but I hear it doesn't make you uncomfy at all during the whole procedure. That's what I heard. Tokorten (Kanten Noodles) is made out of Kanten actually so it's the same thing. :-) It's stuffing so when I want to eat something really huge after 10p.m., Kanten comes to rescue. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Fashmagslag,
Thank you very much. It was not so scary because I thought I could shake it off but it was painful indeed. I love green tea but I don't like iced green tea. It's too bitter for me and makes me go to the bathroom quite a lot. :-) When I eat too much greasy food, my pore gets enlarged. That's not pretty... huh... I hate my DNAs for that. I was taking a day off yesterday but I am working now. Workaholics. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Tim,
Yes, when you turn 30, you see some change on your body and health. Look forward to it. :-) Thank you very much. I am okay now. Though I don't think I can keep drinking like I used to. Huh. You have a fantabulous day!
Hi GaijinGirl,
I've never been a typical workaholic whether believe it or not. Really. I don't work for a comapny. I work for my skills as I get to improve them. That way, I can relax and go easy in my 30s. :-) I think this is the phase of endurance. It won't last long. :-) Thanks for the warning. Balance. yes. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
Oh Shigeki, Did ya miss me?
Despite my over extensive knowledge of health supplements, I will just recommend taking it easy.
Does kanten jelly feel anything like konyaku jelly when you bite it?
Oh AJ!
Yes, I totally missed ya but it's alright as you had to be very slutty. :-) I understand. Thank you very much. I willl definitely go easy when I am in heav...oops, hell. :-) Konyaku jelly is chewy while Kanten is not chewy at all. But Konyaku is another jelly whose calorie is relatively low. :-) You have a fantabulous day!
I am sorry to hear about the blood cloth, I am glad you found it early.
The tea detox sounds good. I wish we had more products like that here.
Oh, and I want to try the colon cleansing too. I may just do it.
I've done a couple of colon cleanses. They're interesting, but more on a spiritual level than just a physical level.
I'm glad that clot wasn't too serious. You really do have too much stress in your life, and you work so much!
Heroine? Cocaine? You in a partying mood, Shegeki? ;-)
hey Shigeki,
Glad to hear you're ok. Doesn't sound like fun at all.
And thanks for the tips on how to make my skin glow! I will definitely try it.
Look after yourself,
Hugs,
Grant.
