I shall catch it!

Mon, 22 May 2006

On Saturday, I arrived at the aiport and went home straight. California Trip was not pleasant. I was going to sleep but a homo friend called and wanted to meet me in the homo district. (called ni-chome). We went to this bar where he frequently goes. You see, the gay bars in Tokyo are different from what you see outside of Japan. Of course, there is this rice queen bar which is similar to the one outside of Japan.... Anyway, in this bar, there is the master (called "ma-ma" ... meaning Mother) and some staff. We basically talk a lot with them and other patrons and drink lots. Karaoke is there, too. But today's post is not about how different gay bars in Tokyo are. My point is...According to "Ma-ma", and other patrons, I look very innocent and pure even though I am dirty inside... Well, I can assure I am not as dirty as they are:-) I was asked to sing a song there. So I sang my favorite J-Pop piece. "Catch the Wave" by Def Tech. The unit of a Hawaiian Guy, and a Japanese guy. The Hawaiian Guy, Shen, is very pretty and fluent in Japanese by the way. For those who don't speak Japanese, their songs are easy to relate to as many lyrics are English. Anyway, when I was singing, I started to cry for no reason. It could have been crazy jet lag and alcohol. It was actually how moving the lyrics were. Of course, bar staff told me I cried on purpose to look innocent. hahaha. But this song, Catch the Wave, haunted me until I got to my place. You see how pure I am inside after all? It was 8 o'clock in the morning when I got back home on Sunday. (I shouldn't have drunk all night and I went to another bar last night.... darn...) Anyway, this song made me realize. Yes!, I've gotta catch the wave just like they sing. You have a fantastic week!

Hmmm, from what I've read on your blog so far I wouldn't describe you as innocent! lol! You're just a sensitive guy Shigeki. I like the song, the melody is beautiful, thank you for sharing it with us! Take care of yourself. GB

Welcome home, Shigeki-chama! There are some J-pop songs that are dangerous for me to sing as I seem to attach a lot of emotional value to them, such as Imai Miki's "Piece of My Wish" or "Best Friend" by Kiroro. They're usually the songs about friends and loved ones encouraging you to go on when you feel like giving up. (;_;)

You are so wild and crazy!
Your next audio post should be of you singing, I think that would be cute. :)

I hope you rested a little this weekend.

Cute song!

And you don't seem all that dirty. (or maybe I just don't know you well enough!)

You catch that wave, Honey!! :)

Despite of your hardcore sexiness, you do have a soft spot after all. It's a catchy cute song, thanks for introducing me to J-pop. :-)

I agree. You should sing a bit for your next audio post. It's okay, after all you can sing in front of all those strangers ina karaoke bar and you can SEE them, and you can't see who's reading your blog so it's okay.

Are the lyrics really that moving until you had tears while singing? Wow, Shigeki you're not only pure and innocent but also sensitive.

Hey, Shigeki ...

enviroboi + vuboq = enviroboq :-) *heh*

I prefer J-Pop without lots of English. I find I enjoy it more when I don't understand what they are saying :-)

*smooch*

Hi GayBoyDiary,

Hahaha. Thanks for the insight! Well, I could fake innocent if I wanted to. :-) That song is easy to listen to. It's not the greatest but I like it :-) You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi GaijinGirl,

If I think about it again, I think it was alcohol and exhaustion. But the song is beautiful. You like piece of my wish?? I am great at singing that song in Karaoke! You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Cesar,
Am I? Well, I wanted to drink lots that day. :-) You know I already did the singing through audioblog. And I don't think I'd like to make myself look like a fool again. :-) You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Hanuman,

hehehe, I could be dirty when I have to but I'd like to think that I am not. :-) I shall catch the wave! Yay. You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Mark,

Yup, when I am drunk, I tend to do a lot of stupid things. That's one of them. :-) No problem about that song. It's catchy, isn't it? You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Will,

Thanks for the suggestion but I already did the singing and not again... I don't have to sound more stupid than I already am. :-) I think it was all alcohol that I had to cry. really. I could sing fine without crying now. You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Envioboq,

Oh! thanks for the explanation. I didn't know. :-) It's weird that you enjoy it more when you don't understand... hehehehe. But this song ain't bad at all, is it? You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Ian,

Yeah, I could be such a drama queen when I am boozed. I am glad that I introduced this to you. Now you know. :-) Don't tell me you don't know where Ni-Chome is. hahaha. Every homo in Tokyo should know this. :-) You have a fantabulous Wednesday!

Hi Shigeki, wow, it sounds like you've been up to a lot while I've been away! I've got so much reading to catch up on!! Re: karaoke, I've made other people cry through my bad singing, but I've haven't yet moved myself to tears .... you must be good!! ;-p Re: Tokyo gay bars, I must admit I didn't go to any when I was there, so I missed out on that. Next time I'm in Tokyo I'll ask you for some recommendations ;-)
