A tool to become more masculine :-)

I had to go to my parents' to house-sit this morning as they are out of town. My sister lives there but she is too lazy to do anything. I had to take care of another bitch as well. I stole some food out of their fridge for breakfast. But that's allowed, right? I have no idea why I didn't post the photo of Kabuto (I don't know how I should translate it. Samurai Helmet?) last year. May 5th is Children's Day in Japan. This is the day for boys. I think I already mentioned about the day for girls. (March 3rd). We sometimes say as a joke that April 4th is for homos/drag queens as it's in between the day for girls and the day for boys. The family with a son/sons displays this thing in the first week of May to hope their boy(s) will grow up strong and cool. Anyway, since my parents have a son, who I think is me, they display this thing just like the rest of Japanese. I assume they totally wished that I'd grow up and become more masculine. Instead, I have become a big homo. Lucky them. :-) Because my parents think doing a seasonal tradition is always the top priority (more like my dad), I had to go my parents' this morning and got this out of the storage to display it. FYI, I don't dress like a Samurai on a daily basis if you happen to wonder. Some classmates in college in Kansas seriously asked me whether I had the sword carrying around when I was in Japan. I was very speachless to see how educated they were... Of course, I told them "yes". Dumb-asses... Anyway, I feel a little masculine now and you have a happy Tuesday!

We have something similar in Mexico, its called Childs Day. Do you get gifts from your parents on this day?

I am sure your parents are proud of you no matter how big of a mo you are :)

Happy Tuesday!

Hahaha - just had a mental picture of you in a Samurai gear! Masculine, fearless and sexy......and commanding! Hmmmmm......

Ah well - to your parents, you will always be their son, no matter what! So enjoy your week.....

Still waiting for the picture of your Samurai, ah, "sword."

Yes! Take a picture of yourself in gear!!!! :)

I guess dumb Americans have as many dumb stereotypes of Japanese as Japanese have of Americans (everyone looks like Barbie or Ken) or that no country but Japan uses chopsticks! GRRRRRRRRRRR,

I remember watching one "Fountain of Trivia" and they invited a world record fast walker to see how long it would take him to walk to the station in the neighborhood (to test if the real estate office was lying about the distance from an apartment). Anyway, they set up a fake news cast about a gang of samurai attacking people in Tokyo. So, what did they do? As he was fast walking around a track, they sent in actors in samurai gear. And the guy started running for his life.

I would have been PISSED OFF if I were the fast walker, but the show probably made it worth his while to be made an a$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ of!

ah, did the bitch treat you well today?

You don't give yourself enough credit. You are strong, you go to the gym right. You're working on being cool right?

I worked for fun at The Sex Show in Toronto a few years ago. I was in the Mike's Hard Lemonade booth and this huge man, kinda' like Paul Bunyan, came up to buy a drink. He was wearing a pink playboy bunny outfit and very high heels, had a five o'clock shadow and a very gruff voice.

Sometimes masculine ain't all it's cracked up to be. :-)

Ok, I totally missed April 4th but hey I think every day is a homo day anyways! Hehe.

I'm impressed you didn't bring down the house (e.g. throw a party) on your parents' absence! You are a nice son to them!

i understand how you feel about the lack of global education that many americans have. in fact, for some, learning about other states of their country is considered an exotic educational experience.

it isn't uncommon for tourists from the more southern states to be (and announce loudly) how disappointed they are that the vast canadian shield and mountains don't greet them at the border of montana or north dakota and saskatchewan. we've had more than a few famous people show up in winter gear in mid summer when the temperature is in the mid to high 30s celcius.

there's even a couple of shows that a canadian comedian did, he went down to the united states (and new york city was included in this) and asked people questions about canada, or asked them to make a comment about some made up issue, like the canadian fishermen taking too many silver fish (a pest insect, similar to cockroaches), or congratulating canadians on having their first mcdonald's or paved highway...it's a sad thing to watch.

I've heard of Boys' day and Girls' day before but never of homo/drag day! That's funny! lol! GB

Hi Cesar,

No, unfortunately, no gifts on this particular day. hahaha. Happy Hump Day!

HI Ian,

I have never put on these Samurai thingies before actually... Happy hump Day!

Hi Steven,

I am not that exhibitionist. :-) Sorry but no sword on this thing. Happy Hump Day!

HI GaijinGirl,

I think it's hillarious that some people think that still. It's interesting. :-) Happy Hump Day!

Hi TipTup,

Of course not. She virtually ignored me all the time except for her breakfast/dinner time. Happy Hump Day!

Hi Maggie,

I am not sure if I am working on being cool. I'd love to feel fabulous so I go to the gym. I mean the post workout is equivalent to post sex. :-) Happy Hump day!

HI Kiss My Mike,

Well, I throw a party once in a while at my place so that's okay. I don't like their house. So many collectibles. :-) Happy Hump day!

Hi Naomi,

Nice Story. Some people make fun of Canada with similar stories, right? But that's bizarre some poeple don't know weather.com. :-) Happy Hump Day!

Hi GayBoyDiary,

Oh yeah, a homo day is always around the time we appreciate cherry blossoms. Isn't that nice? Totally queer. :-) Happy Hump day!

Sweet shigeki, your parents were right. They did bring up a strong, cool, masculine son. Wear your samurai stuff with pride!
