Spring... I think....

Why is it freaking cold in Tokyo when it's supposed to be a warm spring day?? It was like 3 degrees C = 38 Degrees F this morning.... Although cherry blossoms are very beautiful right now, I have to work in the office and I don't get to see them. They don't really stay that way for a long time. Their petals are very easy to get blown away. I didn't want to miss beautiful cherry blossoms. So, I took an extended lunch break (I seem to be doing that quite a lot these days... I hope I get canned for it.) I walked to the imperial garden which is about 10 - 15 min walk from where I work. While there were long lines to get into the garden, I just took several photos from the outside as I didn't want to wait for long to get in. Whlie I am not a big fan of any cherry blossom products like Cherry Blossom Ice Cream, Cherry Blossom Rice Cake, Cherry Blossom hot water, Cherry Blossom Kit Kat (EW!), I still like to see the real cherry blossoms. I did the cliche just like other Japanese would do. I went to see them. They were moderately beautiful. :-) While I was walking near the garden, it occurred to me I was the only one person who walked near the garden alone. Everybody's got friends, a date, family to go with... Oh well. I am sure they would have been more beautiful if I went there with a boyfriend. Even though I am not looking and don't want a solid relationship right now, I sometiems miss having the significant other like in this situation. But on many occasions, I am glad I am single. :-) Anyway, have a fantabulous Thursday! One more day until the weekend! Yay.

You weren't alone -- the cherry blossoms were with you!

Enjoy your long long lunches. What a great way to get fired: "You were looking at beauty too long, get out and don't come back!!!"

I know how you feel, Shigeki.

The cherry blossoms are a big deal right now in Washington DC, with a huge number of them lining the tidal basin (I think they were a gift from Japan). There are a bunch around my house too. I should get out my camera and take some pictures. Maybe tomorrow. I really want a new phone with a camera though... And yes, maybe they would be more beautiful with a boyfriend. or maybe not.

Is there a specific Kami for Cherry trees/blossoms?

At any rate, you have a fantabulous day too! :)

My first sakura season in Japan and I have taken some pictures as well - namely Shiba and Ueno Koen. Will aim for the Imperial place this weekend with some friends of mine! At least I won't be alone :-)

Sorry to have missed your previous blogs! Have been to slow to reply.... Can't wait to Friday. Guess what - back in Roponggi again tomorrow :-)

Where did the cold win come from? It just feels like winter right now! :-)

Cherry Blossom KitKats..? That must be an interesting flavor. I wish we had more sakura here. We do have a lot of apple and plum trees up here in NY, but the lovely pink of the cherry blossoms is just not the same.

Indeed, things are more beatiful, the colors are more vivid, and the feeling is more elated when you get to experience beautiful things with a loved one. I hope someone finds you, you don't have to find him, while it's still the cherry blossom season so you could both enjoy the scenery together. Can't comment much about cherry blossoms since I've never seen one live, but that they are beautiful. Le sigh...

yes. 3C/38F is def a little nippley.

So, I took an extended lunch break (I seem to be doing that quite a lot these days... I hope I get canned for it.)

LOL! Oh, that cracked me up. So funny. Here's to loooong lunches and beautiful cherry blossoms and a lovely Springtime!

Being single is better than being in a boring marriage, arguing and waiting for the other person to die in my opinion. There is a reason why so many young Japanese women these days choose not to get married- embrace your singleness, you'll meet someone someday ;)

Cherry blossom kit kat? That is wrong on so many levels......

I saw sakura rice cakes in Chinatown last weekend, it was tempting to buy one for the novelty value, but I know I won't like it so I didn't bother. I would try a sakura KitKat though, but I've never seen one in this country, I suppose they're quite rare because I think they're seasonal aren't they? Hope it gets warmer soon - if not, you can always find another 'friend' to keep you warm (^_~)b

Cherry blossoms & extended lunchs rawkx! (Bad slang or saying rocks) Sure it would be nice to have someone to keep the bed warm, but like the rest of us, you don't need anyone to make fabulous! You have a outrageously pinky sakura season!

I so miss hanami! I may take a stroll this weekend to see if cherry trees are blooming in the park near my house.

Maybe I'll take Oscar...

Wow. I miss seeing the pictures on your blog and being able to comment. Maybe I can do more of that soon :-)

*smooch*

Poor darlin. I'll walk with ya if I ever go there. Was it terribly romantic with falling flowers like memoirs of a geisha?

paul

Hi Steven, (You go by both Steve and Steven? Whichever is fabulous
though)

That's a very beautiful way to put it. Thank you. Well, I am very hoping
if I could get fired for that specific reason so that I don't have to
worry about lack of my personal time. :-) You have a great day!

Hi T. Kevin,

That's so great that cherry blossoms are beautiful over there in DC,
too. :-) Taking photos for something that won't last long is really
challenging and interesting. :-) Enjoy your cherry blossoms. :-) I don't
use my camera on the cell at all. I don't know...it's too crappy. :-)
What would be the maxium resolutions these days? I saw 3M pixels the
other day... You have a great day!

Hi Hanuman,

Um.... I am not sure if there is but Cherry blossoms are meant to be
hanuted in some legendary stories. They are spooky even though they look
beautiful. By the way, I read an article about "cloned" cherry blossoms
that were owned by target="_blank">Nobunaga Oda. I guess clone business is not always
controversial. :-) You have a great day!

Hi Ian,

That's great that you get to go to Zojoji and Ueno. They are the most
beautiful places when it comes to Cherry Blossoms. Well, I don't mind
being alone enjoying cherry blossoms but everybody around me was not
alone so I just said that. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi SeekerOnos,

Yup. Cherry Blossom KitKat. I think I href="http://blog.tokiobleu.com/archives/2006/01/sakura.html"
target="_blank">blogged about it awhile ago. It was yucky... Really.
too bad that you guys don't have a lot of cherry blossoms. But then, you
have other things, too. Like almond trees. I find them very beautiful in
spring yet we don't have those a lot here.... You have a great day!

Hi Mark,

Oh yeah. You know the feeling but then, I don't think I am anywhere
being ready to have someone to be with so I will enjoy it with my
friends instead. :-) Too bad that you haven't seen one for real but I am
sure there are so many beautiful things there that we don't have here.
:-) You have a great day!

Hi Mr. Brian,

Oh yeah, it was definitely "nippley". I am glad I didn't wear anything
too tight. :-) You have a great day!

Hi Mush,

You are a geek. I've never seen a visitor using "Quote" tags. :-) How
impressive. Yeah, that's my dream. Getting canned for what I enjoy doing
yet not contraversial or inappropriate. But my supervisor is too
generous when it comes to lunch breaks. You have a great day!

Hi Fashmagslag,

There, you said it. :-) That's right. I am fabulous even if I am single
right now. :-) Well, I'd love to have someone really great but then I am
also getting prepared to believe the longest relationship I had was the
last one... I will see. href="http://blog.tokiobleu.com/archives/2006/01/sakura.html"
target="_blank">Cherry Blossom Kit Kat was very yucky. I am glad
they don't sell it anymore. :-) You have a good day!

Hi Tim,

I am not a big fan of Sakura (Cherry Blossom) rice cakes at all. So you
were very wise that you didn't get one of those. :-) href="http://blog.tokiobleu.com/archives/2006/01/sakura.html"
target="_blank">Sakura Kit Kat was horrible!!! Really. They were
seasonal indeed. I am definitely going to have fun with another "friend"
for the night. :-) You have a great day!

Hi AJ,

Yup. They rock. :-) Well, it would be perfect if I wore a pink shirt
with a slight pink jakcet and pink adidas shoes. But I am not that gay.
:-) It's been quite fabulous here in Tokyo but then, these cherry
blossoms will be gone next week. You have a great day!

Hi Enviroboi,

Long time no. Well, last year, I did went to hanami (Cherry Blossom
viewing) but then, I am not sure if I'd want to do that this year as I
make myself look like a fool when I get too drunk outside. :-) So I
guess you will not be cursed by that firewall? :-) That's great news.
:-) You have a great day!

Hi Paul,

Oh, that's very nice of you to offer me to become a boyfriend for the
day. :-) Well, they are not falling yet but they are very romantic and
beautiful when they fade away. But I guess I will be stuck in the office
while it happens as it is supposed to be next week... huh... Good day!

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod's. It works well, but isn't as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that's not an issue, but if you're planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod's larger screen and better browser may be important.

Hands down, Apple's app store wins by a mile. It's a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

Good blog! I truly love how it is easy on my eyes and the data are well written. I'm wondering how I might be notified when a new post has been made. I've subscribed to your RSS which must do the trick! Have a nice day!

I've been absent for some time, but now I remember why I used to love this website. Thanks , Iˇ¦ll try and check back more frequently. How frequently you update your site?

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It's very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

I like what you guys are up too. Such clever work and reporting! Carry on the superb works guys I have incorporated you guys to my blogroll. I think it will improve the value of my website :)

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass' favor.
