Obaldi Oblada
Sat, 4 March 2006

Last night, I had to attend "kick-off" meeting for this year. There were so many things to list for this year. But I really didn't pay much attention to them as many of them will be dealt after I leave this company. But I pretended to be a good worker and showed how hard I will work. Acting. oh yeah. Even though I don't hang out with work people, I like company paid dinner and cocktails. We went to this grilled beef's place in Nishi-Azabu. This place is one of the most luxurious grilled beef places in Tokyo. Although I don't enjoy beef much, I enjoyed wine very much. If I don't like one bottle which tasted weird for Chardonnay, I didn't have to get devastated for 7000 Yen = US $60.19 = €50.00 a bottle. We can move onto the next bottle and open up. :) As I was sitting far far away from my director, we ordered 5 different bottles just for our table. At 11p.m., we got out and I was going back home. But our director suggested us to have cocktails. So we went to this music bar where the live music performance was held. The Beatles. Those songs are VERY old but I loved this unexpected live performance. Actually, these songs don't make me think they are very old... One of the singers was very cute, too. I even sang along a little bit. The fake Beatles rock! My favorite piece last night was "Obladi Oblada". After 4 martinis, I guess I told my director how good looking one of those singers was.... I said "good looking" not "fabulous" or anything gayer... Free martinis and music cover charges paid by our company are great! Of course, I passed out a second after I got inside of my apartment. I got up in the hallway today... but it was a good company dinner and cocktail time. :) You have a fabulous weekend. I am off to listening to more Beatles'. :)

I hope you don't catch a cold from sleeping in your cold hallway, but something tells me your body was fine with all the alcohol in it.
The thing about classic songs is that they are timeless. I think the same thing about the Police's "Every Breath You Take"--it was a song from my freshman year in high school! But every time I hear it on the radio, I can't believe it's 23 years old!
Was the band covering the older Beatles' songs (Michelle, Yesterday), or the "newer" ones (Something, Long and Winding Road)? Anyway, glad to hear you had a good time. Maybe we'll have to go to another live show when I'm in Tokyo! MUWAH!!!!!!

I agree with GaijinGirl. The fact is that the reason Beatle's songs are still easy to listen to, is that they are almost like a template for how to write a great pop song. Good for you Shigeki-san for drinking like a fish and almost outting yourself to your boss.

Passing out in the hallway?!!!!
Be careful Shigeki-san!
We wouldn't want to lose you!! ;)

Fun! Yes, waking up in the hallway is a bit disturbing, but I laughed anyway! My assistant told me yesterday that the day after going out with his girlfriend for her birthday he woke up at 4:30 in the afternoon in the back seat of his car. Hm.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun! I'd like to know how your director reacted when you said that one of the guys is good looking!
Take care,
GB

I love company outings! they are the best and you can eat and drink all day! :-) and it won't cost you a penny!
Wow - our paths could have crossed at Roppongi yesterday! But I stayed back at home because I was sick of going out and getting my liver damaged by the excessive drinking that I have been doing for the last couple of weeks! Passed out on hallway eh? Well you have certainly done better than me - throwing up all over Roppongi! Hope you were feeling better today.

That's neat! The chance of that happening at my present job is like slim to none. lol
I'm sure getting drunk and just singing along to The Beatles is just great. Jai guru de va om Ahh, the classics.. You'll wonder sometimes whether we'll remember songs they're coming out with right now, we'll be singing along to ten, twenty years down the road.
Hope you didn't catch a cold or anything. The alcohol must have kept you warm at least. Kampai ;-)

Passed out in the hallway?!?! WTF!

I think it was a success that you woke up in YOUR own hallway! Congratulations :)
I had dinner with 5 women from work this week, including my boss. She told the waiter we were having a "girls' night out" :)
Enjoy your weekend.

considering you've slept in the park, your hallway is an achievement! and i'm sure its okay to say other guys look nice if you do it subtly. I always sneek in nasty details in conversations that can either be really gay... or not..

You said to your director that one of the singers (which I assume is a guy, given they are a fake Beatles band) is goodlooking? I guess he, too, was too drunk to react to that. By the by, be careful not to sleep on the hallway next time.

Sounds like a fun filled office evening. You got to love the Beatles. Interested in reading more of your blog...

I would be surprised if your director responds, "I know. That was so fetch!"

Wow, it sounds like you got very good value-for-money out of your company that night!! I wish we got taken out for dinner and drinks and parties where I work. Unfortunately the public sector doesn't pay for that kind of thing. We get given 5GBP at Christmas to put towards a dinner, the rest we have to pay ourselves, and that's it for the whole year :-(

I love wine... yum yum yum and cock-tail!

Any time you wake up anywhere other than your bed after a night of drinking you can pretty much guarantee you had a good time.
I am glad you made it back safe :)

LOL honey did you just out yourself to your director?! LOL you can really lose control after you've had a few drinks. At least this time you weren't discovered in a park by your dad walking the dog!

Hi GaijinGirl,
I was very alright after I got up. I took a looong warm bath to keep myself warm. :) Well, I didn't even listen to any older songs on that day. Pretty newer ones actually but I really enjoyed it. I mean that's somewhere I'd never go by myself so it was all good. :) You have a pretty evening!
Hi Mark,
You know like "hey jude". That doesn't sound old at all. But lyrics are very pure compared with nowadays. :) hahaha. I am glad my boss was very drunk as well. He didn't seem to remember what I said right there. Not that I don't mind if he did though. :) You have a pretty week!
Hi Hanuman,
Oh yeah, passing out in the hallway. I was very very sleepy. I didn't pass out because of too much alcohol. I seem to be able to enjoy alcohol a lot for some reason. :) Thanks for your concern though! You have a pleasant day!
Hi Kevin,
Oh yeah, it was absolutely fun. I had to wonder.... how on earth did he wake up at 4:30p.m. in the back seat of his car? That's pretty weird. But I hope your assistant had a great night. Was her skin glowing? You have a gorgeous week!
Hi GayBoyDiary,
Oh yeah, I did have a lot of fun "Unexpectedly". ;-) He didn't react very much when I made that statement. Maybe, it was too direct? But I didn't say it in a gay way not that I say it every day....okay, that was a lie. yeah, I do talk about who is hot and who isn't.. I feel low... You have a happy day!
Hi Ian,
Well, I don't really enjoy company dinner as I have to talk about something I am not interested in. but every once in a blue moon, it's good. I wouldn't do it on a monthly basis though. You know you should be better for consuming alcohol. know how you don't have to throw up all over Roppongi.. nooooo! Good evening!
Hi Kris,
Really? I am sorry to hear that. Maybe, you should work in the private sector? Well, I will definitely remember the songs by Deepest Blue for sure even though they will be forgotten by so many people.... You have a wonderful day!
Hi Paul,
yeah, i was too tired and sleepy. I didn't pass out because of the stroke or anything. Good evening!
Hi Steve,
Oh yeah, I made it. yay! Thanks. :) Hahaha. That's pretty that your boss told the waiter it was a girl's night out. :-) I'd love to have a girl's night out. But for some reason, i don't have a chance to do that. I hope you had a great weekend. Have a marvelous week!
Hi AJ,
Oh yeah, it was definitely an achievement! But I seem to pass out once a month in the hallway.... I should become wiser.... I am not sure if I did it subtly as I thought that guy was very gorgeous. I wanted to marry him. that cute. or lick him... huh... You have a fabulous evening!
Hi Mark,
Oh yeah, I definitely said it but it wasn't in a sexual way. It was just like an observation that straight people might say. But he was very very gorgeous. I wanted to cry. :) I think I like that singer better than John Lennon for sure. :) You have a fantabulous day!
Hi Rick,
Welcome to my site! Oh yeah, it was fun very much but I don't think i'd like to do it again some time soon as I may out myself gradually. ;) The Beatles rock! Thanks for stopping by. I hope you don't mind I added a link to your site. :-) I love your blog! You have a pretty day!
Hi Kiss My Mike,
hahahah. I wish but he said "yeah, I agree" or something like that. I don't really remember... not that's important as he isn't pretty. :) You have a good day!
Hi Tim,
Thanks for commenting on other posts as well. Long time no! Oh yeah, it was really great which happens once a quarter of the year.... I am sorry that you can't get free party like that. It's time for you to work in the private sector? :) But I am pretty sure there are better things in the public sector, too. You have a gorgeous day!
Hi Ca va pas la tete,
yeah, I love wine, too. I even got an expert certificate for it. But lately, I like whiskey better. :-) You have a pretty day!
Hi Cesar,
Oh yeah.. but it doesn't necessarily mean all is good if you got up anywhere other than your bed. Sometimes, people do stupid things unfortunately.... I hope your weekend was fantabulous! Fantabulous week!
Hi Will,
um... nope. I guess not. I just made a statement that I thought this guy was very good looking in a straight way. But then, I am not straight so I don't know how I sounded.... Well, I had two bottles of wine and when I have that much, I get really drunk. Though I can easily go back home. :-) the problem is when I got in. :) Good evening!
