I stayed up last night again to watch Figure Skating/ Speed Skating... I really should have gone to Torino.... By the way, I don't know why Japanese girls are so ga-ga-ing about Johnny Weir... He looks too pale.
Daisuke Takahashi is way cuter IMHO. Anyway, I was told last week to go to New York City for the 2 week training. Mind-numbing training for 2 weeks? NO! This is the photo of the map I usually take whenever I go there. Earlier this week, my flight got cancelled due to massive snow in NYC. I was actually thankful for that. My demanding boss of course told me to get the flight next day. Now, I had to use all my power not to go to NYC. It's not because I hate NYC. I actually like it there. But it's not a great time of the year unfortunately. I've got things to do here in this office. More importantly, all the olympic games would be held during business hours and I would miss them all during the business trip if I went there. I'd rather drag a sleep-deprived body. Ergo, I had to come up with a good reason not to go. Being sick wasn't a great idea. It's telling a lie. I had to come up with something
creative. I decided to
"wash my passport mistakenly" as it will be expired next month. It would take 10 days to renew the passport. So I made an emergency call to my boss and said "Oh Lord, I must have been really drunk. I did laundry and realized my passport was in my pants." It actually got destroyed real good. My boss told me it would be okay not to go to NYC. Yay. But I was told to go to Boston next month.... I'd have to come up with another creative excuse... I mean a biz trip is always tiring... Anyway, have a fantastic hump day.
So the passport excuse is not a good one to use, no?
You don't want to go travelling! Gimme your ticket! I'll go then.
Paul
(Hi!)
Washing the passport is a genius idea. Kudos!
And Boston wouldn't be that bad. Just think, it's a little cleaner than most of NY, and there are plenty of places to go and see when you're not working. If you get somewhere near Maryland, give me and Anthony a call. :)
New York is a pretty nice place to visit, but this time of year is still a bit too chilly.
See if you can delay your boss until April or May, that is probably one of the best times to see the city.
As for for the skaters, I can't say that I find any of them particularly attractive (maybe it is the flamboyant costumes they must wear?) I am sure that if I saw them in street clothes I might think differently. :)
You need another trip away from Tokyo! Go to Bangkok and your JPY will stretch further! Afterall you'll have the opportunity to gorge at the Traffice Police in their tight uniform as well!
Anyway, in my humble opinion - Yuya Oikawa and Joji Kato looks a lot better than Daisuke on the front page of The Daily Yomuri! :-)
NY and Boston eh! Give me both places - and I'll get my butt over there - cold, snow or the heat! :-) These are the only places that I'll visit the States for and Honolulu and San Francisco as well. Well - at least I can still read your blogs for the next couple of weeks!
Have a fantastic hump day? Yeah right! I have a lot more to do this week and next week!
shigeki- but if you do come to boston, you have to look me up. Maybe we could have lunch or dinner together.
Washing the passport is a great excuse! I am going to have to remember that one next time I have to travel for work. You are right, it is very tiring and you don't really have a lot of fun. And you come back home with tons of things to do.
Besides, New York is way to cold right now. Wait until the snow melts at least.
you missed the great blizzard of 2006! we got 26inches (66cm) of snow here in NYC. now, it's like 50 degrees (10 C), so it's actually pleasant... except that because of the snow melting, it's all slushy.
any suggestions as to how to get out of a business trip when you travel within the country?
I LOVE NEW YORK!!!
You always come up with the clever ideas, Shigeki! I am perpetually impressed. I understand the toxicity of having to travel for business. but given that I've never been anywhere because of business (and that I've never been to NY, one of the places I must go to before I die), that's a wasted ticket. Would have grabbed it in a jiffy. LOL. Only the merchandisers in our company get the chance to go to Milan, NY, Paris, Spain, Portugal, etc. for thier buying trips. Ugh! Have a great Thursday!
aww shigeki, you're not coming to charmin' ol' boston? it will probably be cold and rainy next month. but if you do come, you get to play more pranks on that dude! but you'll have to see him daily too. XD
Yup, a very creative idea indeed.
Wonder what you would think of next for your Bostom trip LOL ....
hump day? Lol thats a new one! Business trips can be a bitch but atleast you managed to wash your way out of that one! You have a shaggadelic day!
New York better... more happening place.. :)
OMG NY and Boston and you passed it up?! Because of the weather?! You're such a queen lol!
I don't think Daisuke is hot though. The hair looks weird...
You are so sneaky, Shigeki! I have to disagree with you about Takahashi though. :-|
TK
I LOVE NEW YORK TOO.... and wayne babe is there!!!!
Hi Mr. Brian,
It's indeed a good one but can't use it frequently :-( Anyway, you have a happy day!
Hi Paul,
Well, it's totally different when you have to go somewhere on business. Believe me. It's not as great as you imagine.. Good day!
Hi Logan Long time no,
Yes, since the passport expires pretty soon, why not? :) I've been to Boston but haven't enjoyed the city much as I get stuck in the office all day long.... Wait, hold on a sec, you are in Maryland? How did I miss that? I should re-read your blog. Happy day!
Hi Seekeronos,
I know it's a brilliant place to visit when you have time. But when you go to work, nope. nowhere is good. I am sure that I will have to go to NYC sometime before summer so i shall give you the heads up when I do. Have a great day!
Hi Ian,
Bangkok is really really nice but I hate those tuk-tuk drivers who always say "No, where you are going is closed. I will take you xxx" crap. I hate that. that's good that you get to visit SF and Honolulu... I am jealous! I only get to go to Midwest and Boston but I guess it doesn't really make any difference since I go there for business.... Good evening!
Hi Gregg,
Absolutely. And I think you will get me Boston's best chowder. :-) I wonder if I am able to drive around in Boston as it was scary last time.... You have a great day!
Hi Cesar,
Yeah? I was desperate not to go. Really. If I missed the olympic games, I'd be freaking mad. :-) Well, I am sure I'd love to go to NYC on vacation but not for biz... You have a fantastic day!
Hi Fullofhype,
hahaha. I am really really thankful for that great blizzard! That's why my flight got cancelled. :-) Yay. I guess Spring is on its way over there, too. :-) um... within the country? I once intentionally missed a flight because I didn't wanna go there. :-) How's that? Good day!
Hi Mush,
I KNOW! Good day!
HI Mark,
Really? I don't think it's that clever. :-) I was desperate not to go. :-) But I am very honored you said so. :-) Well, I'd love to go to Ibiza for business but I don't think that will ever happen again.. huh... It's not really a wasted ticket as it was a full refundable one. :-) I'd love to go to Ibiza on business.... huh.... Did I tell you that yet? :-) You have a great evening!
Hi Tiputup,
Well, I'd love to go there on vacation. But working in Boston is kinda disaster as people over there are not really nice to me. I mean those company people. :-) oh! I forgot about that! You know what? I have more than 10 people whom I need to play pranks on there.... :-) You have a great weekend!
Hi Derek,
Thanks very much. Well, I am trying to come up with a better one but it gives me a month to think so I will think hard. :-) You have a great weekend!
Hi AJ,
oh yeah. well, I didn't get any dry hump at all even though.... :-( biz trips are always unpleasant. I have never gotten excited about going somewhere on business.. huh... you have a fantastic weekend!
Hi Lifebook,
really? Tokyo has a lot of things going on, too. :-) I am fine being here. Heheh Good day!
Hi Will,
I more like passed because it had to be the 2 week training. It would be very mind numbingly exhausting. And, I wouldn't be able to watch all the hot guys in Torino live, you know. :-) Good weekned!
Hi Kevin,
Oh yeah, I certainly am. :-) really? If you see him in person, you'd say the different thing, I promise! Good day!
Hi Ca va pas la tete,
I love New york with normal amount. But I don't love to go there on business... Good day!
I don't see the Johnny Weir thing, either, but knowing how J-girls (and a lot of Asian girls) will go for just about ANY non-Asian guy just because he doesn't look like them, it doesn't surprise me. I think Daisuke needs a haircut. I think the swimmer Kitajima ranks higher on my Japanese hottie scale.
