I don't believe in good karma
Tue, 14 February 2006

This is not a nice title to use on this happy day. Today, I wanted to cry so hard. It's not because "Oh, Jesus, this is the first boyfriend-less year in the last 10 years on St Valentine's day" I am so fine to be single. No, I am not gonna shoot any ridiculously happy looking couples on this particular day. I realized whenever I do something nice to someone, something horrible happens to me. 2 years ago in Stockholm, two gentlemen from Japan were lost and didn't know how to get to their hotel from the airport. Coincidentally, I was going to the same hotel. So I went there with them and even translated every single thing of what they wanted to say at the front desk. On the same day, I got mugged.... my VAIO got stolen, too... 1 year ago, I helped a sick woman who passed out at the station and called an ambulance. On the very same day, I broke my thumb.. There are more I could list but I should stop before I bore you to death. Though, today, I was asked by this person to help his niece in MA, U.S.A. for her project at school. She is a fourth grader and wanted information about Tokyo so I did the best for her project. It was 2 page long. In the afternoon, I accidentally spilled a half bottle of water onto my 2 year old VAIO which I bought as a replacement of the stolen one... Of course, it never started .... It's all my fault... but .... My pretty VAIO laptop.... My geeky valentine (a.k.a. my VAIO), stay little valentine stay... Obviously, it didn't. I literally sang it by watching the soaked VAIO. I am not going to do anything nice to someone for awhile... On the bright side, I now have an excuse to buy a new laptop. :) I wish you a happy Valentine's day for me though.

Oh poor Shigeki-san :( that sucks. Really that does. I've broken/destroyed a couple of computers now so I know the feeling. One of them met its demise while i was drinking beer. All I can say is thank whatever for Apple's good warranty and stupid service people. They never smelled the beer in the iBook.

Oh Shigeki-san!
Don't be that way!
Continue to do good things! We need Bodhisattvas everywhere!!! :)
Love and kisses,
Hanuman

No!!! I'm so sorry to hear about that, Shigeki. I feel for you and am left in disbelief how fate plays her tricks on you. Don't worry, St. Valentine would reward you with something, err, someone hot as hell and deliciously sexy. Keep smiling, Shigeki. Mwah!

That is horrible! I think it is a wise choice to stop doing nice things for people if all of these horrible things keep happening afterwards.
Does anything good ever happen after you do a good deed?

Shigeki - san (spelled this correctly?)
You should fly to Bangkok and pay respect to the four face buddhas at Erawan! Then maybe you could get rid of the jinx! and get a holiday as well.....?! But not too worry, I'm sure you have enough good karma credits in your bank account to manage this.
Look at the bright side, from your blogs, you have kept others happy as well. So my prayers for you to keep you save!

awwww. I am sorry to hear of the boomerang of bad karma. But I hope it does not prevent you from doing something nice for someone....perhaps there is something working against you, and that is truly sad.
Here's wishing you receive a nice new laptop for free with no repercussions!

perhaps all the bad things that have happened to you will add up to a huge good thing to happen when you least expect it. believe, my friend. and be good, we need as many good people in the world as we can stand.

I'm sorry Shigeki! Maybe if you start being mean to people, then good things will happen? I hope the world isn't that way.

shigeki- thats terrible how you good karma comes back to bite you in the ass. maybe you are an evil entity and you are punished for being good and rewarded for being bad. Kinda like that Angel character from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which by the way is a program I never really got into. If you decide to get a new vaio, send the old one here. I am really good at repairing those things.

The laptop might boot after it dries, don't you think? Unless it was on when the water hit it, then it's probably dead.

that is so sad shigeki! poor vaio. anything good happen when you're more evil than usual?
Posted by: tiptup at February 15, 2006 07:36 AM
Shigeki-chama,
I think it's just coincidence (albeit really freaky) that bad things happen when you do good things. After all, good things, like your Chevy bike, happen to you, too! Maybe the timing is wrong, but in the end, I believe Karma is paid back with interest. Just continue to be you and spread love and happiness, especially via your blog!!!!!! I hope your Vaio will be fine after drying out, but then again, you are a computer god. Maybe it's time to buy a new toy!!!!!!

Cheer up, Shigeki-san... I think your karma will change for the better soon :)

Shigeki, sometimes, maybe it is the good deeds which actually saved us from bigger disaster. You know instead of being mugged, you could have been stabbed, instead of losing your VAIO, you got have been electrocuted... so, from another perspective, it might be good kharma. Of course when any of those things happened to me, I would be cursing away too...

Hi Mark,
Yeah, it did suck a lot but that happens if I am stupid which I apparently am.... The most devastating thing was I couldn't recover the data from the hard drive because the hard drive was even so dead.... huh... But I have never spilled beer. :) I guess they didn't really care? Damn... my iBook is apparently secured with the extended warranty service!!! oh no!.. But I guess I will not do that again. :) You have a fantastic day! and thank for the e-mail with the attachment! I think I will blog about it tomorrow!
Hi Hanuman,
Oh boy! Well, I was kinda pissy last night even if it was all my fault. That thing happens quite a bit to me. It's not that I will discontinue being good. I'd love to help people out but I am very anxious... My idea of Bodhisattvas is a little screwed up as half of it is catholic. :) Anyway, thanks for stopping by and you have a wonderful morning!
Hi Mark,
Yeah, I am so sorry to see that happening, too... Just for the record, yesterday , I didn't do anything special. I did two consecutive hand jobs last night. That's about it. :-( I am not sure if it was rewarding enough. :) Thanks for your thoughtful comment. I am smiling. :) You have a pleasant evening!
Hi Cesar,
I know! It fudging is! I am just testing my theory if they are the way things are for me. I don't think it ever has happened anything good to me after I did something extremely nice. So I guess I am going to be normal for awhile. :) You have a great morning!
Hi Ian,
Yes, you spelled it correctly. Thank you. :) I wish I could! But then, I don't think I can afford my time to go there right now. But I didn't know about the four face buddas at Erawan at all. I am sure I will visit there next time I am in Bangkok. But I am not religious so I am not sure how good paying a little visit there would be though. Isn't that very sweet of you to say that. My non-exciting scribbles keep some happy. That's a honorable thing. :) You have a splendid evening!
Hi Mr. Brian,
Yeah, I am so sorry about that, too but it's something I cannot avoid, isn't it? I guess my former life (if there was any) was an extremely bad one or something... that's why I am paying my debt? I hope not..... Thanks for your wishes. I ordered my new laptop earlier today and I think I will get it sometime pretty soon. :) You have a wonderful morning!
Hi Fullofhype,
hmmm.... I guess that's one way to look at it for sure. But I guess I am not going to expect anything from it. :-) Zen. :-) I did help an old couple today for them to get to the station though. What's up with me? I am always asked for directions...... huh... Anyway, you have a fatastique morning!
Hi Kevin,
I am, too. Well, I don't think I can ever be mean to people who are innocent. But you know I can be an raging bitch when people piss me off. :) I hope the world isn't created that way. I must have been doing something wrong. huh... You have a good day!
Hi Gregg,
I know it's terrible. I just can't remember anything I deserve this..... I didn't break my thumb this time so I guess it was better? But more than 2500 U.S. dollars was gone quickly.... huh.... You know I have never watched Buffy even though a lot of people (homos especially) love watching that... Well, when I go to Boston next time, I will drop it off and if it's fixed, it's yours. :) Thanks for the nice offer though! I am obviously good at destroying stuff. (T_T) You have a productive day!
Hi Mush,
You know I did try everything I knew and I even asked one of the desktop support experts to rescue my laptop. So far not so good.. I should have know... if it was a company's computer, I'd not have cared this much..... huh.... You have a gorgeous morning!
Hi Tiptup,
I know it's so sad!!! My drenched VAIO.... Well, I never tried to be evil intentionally unless people piss me off just like that soysauce coffee guy from Boston. (oh my, your city! shoot him if you see him walking, please. .:) but I guess I should not be upset and dramatic like I was yesterday..... You have a marvelous morning!
Hi GaijinGirl,
Is it? I'd like to think so. Well, my chevy bike was a small good thing.... huh.... breaking my thumb and getting mugged are way more pricey unfortunately. I don't really spread love and happiness via my blog, do I? I just keep mumbling a lot here. :) But thanks for your sweet comment. I appreciate that. nope, it's unlikely my vaio will come back. Damn, I didn't expect to spend much on a computer... huh.... You have a great evening!
Hi Seekeronos,
Thanks very much. I am over the shock I had yesterday. :-) I hope so but I am not sure if it plays right.... I will see. :-) You have a fantastic day!
HI Ca va pas la tete,
Really? but if I didn't help them out, I didn't have to run into any of those episodes, did I? I mean breaking my finger was so fudging painful.... It was already bad enough... I don't like it.... Oh, a stupid drunk guy stabbed me once when I was in Australia so I experienced the worse moment actually.. See? huh.... I am just hoping my life is not "dramatic" :-) You have a great evening!
