39 more days!

no, no, no, I am not going to count down every single day. I went to pick up my usual this morning at starbucks (and to see a fantabulous hottie whom I have a crash crush on) Their cups are the holiday edition from today!! Although the hot masculine guy I wanna jump on wasn't there, the next best barista who is moderately hot served my Americano. HIs americano tasted the second best. A guy in a half sleeved tight polo shirt in this time of the year is so unusual and nice to look at..... Okay, I am a pervert. And I got a call from a friend who recently visited Japan and now lives in Seattle, WA, U.S.A. He sounded EXTREMELY mad... He works at this hotel as a concierge and was personaly filing a complaint report for Japan. To summurize his complaint without fuckings he repeatedly said, he is bothered when he assists Japanese guests and he doesn't get any "Thank you". I just realized it might be something we don't usually do here.... When I ordered an americano, I said "A Tall americano, please." There was no thank you. Well, I might have said "domo" which is like "thanks!" But you don't usually have to say that here. (Thanks is more used in Osaka/Kyoto, I think) You wouldn't get considered as a rude person if you didn't say it. You can completely go mute when you buy something at a convenience store here in Japan. (I'd say "Osewasama" at a fancy store which is equivalent to saying what?? I am sorry for your trouble?) That's about a little difference I didn't notice. Do as the Romans do, right? So I am not defending those a friend of mine dealt with. They should've said "Thank you" with a little tip. But I have no idea where I should file this complaint I got personaly from him... All I can do for now is, Thank you for visiting my site as always! Have a pleasant day!

Hi, Shigeki-chama! First, a comment from the "sensei"...it's "crush"--I should know, since I seem to be addicted to having them!!!!!!

As for your concierge friend, he probably doesn't know that Japanese customer service is probably among the best in the world, and that good help is expected from staff without having to verbally say "Thank you." Actually, the Japanese clerks probably think I'm weird for saying thanks to them when they give me my change or whatever.

I would just tell him it's a cultural difference, and not to take it personally.

Lucky you...there seems to be a Starbuck's on every corner in Tokyo. We don't even have 1 in Shimane, as much as I beg my friend to open one. But then I'd feel bad for the little mom and pop coffee shops that would go out of business.

Damn...this isn't a comment--it's practically a blog entry of its own. Gomen ne! v(^.^)V

Thank you for showing your blog to us. Ok! now I am can read your diary aka blog without feeling bad.. ha ha.

Thank you again.. just in case. lol.

no no darling a pervert would be some who watches thier friend's house mate do ironing hoping to get a glimpse of the goodies.. i.e AJ...

You enjoy your coffee now!

Hi GaijiinGirl,

Thanks for the correction. I always appreciate that! Please keep doing when you feel like it. Cultural differences are so hard to deal with and to understand but that's the part what makes our world more interesting. Well, I didn't have access to Starbucks when I lived in Kansas so that's the similar thing. :-) You have a pleasant evening!

Hi Lifebook,

Hehehe, Thank you for visiting my site, too. You didn't feel bad at all. Please visit whenever you can and when you have nothing to do. :-) Happy day!

Hi AJ,

hahahaha. I'd do the same thing so I guess I am a pervert after all. Hold on a sec. I want that guy so much. That butt guy!!! Can I have it for my xmas present? You have a pleasant day!
