Subway
Wed, 17 August 2005

I did some minor change on this blog. Did you notice? Unfortunately, I have nothing interesting to report lately. um.... my closest station to work is Shinjuku Station which is the busiest station in the world according to Wikipedia. I grew up here, work here and live here. My high school is "Shinjuku" high school even. :-) Because Shinjuku is a busy station, the security has been hightened after London's incident last month according to the police. It doesn't look like it though. I see these security notices on the wall at every station as shown in the photo. It is Tokyo Metropolitan's Government policy to have English signs as well to make things easier for visitors from overseas. So you can read this notice in the photo. :-) I didn't know until recently that there are 266 subway stations in Tokyo. Subway is my primary transportation for everyday. Though I usually commute to work by taxi. It's not because I am afraid of terrors. It's just because it takes me 5 mins to work by taxi while it would take 20 mins if I take subway. Yes, I am lazy.
Oh, I was talking to one of the blog mates and he asked me if stations' staff always pushed people into the train to "stuff" passengers. There are some lines that needs to be done during rush hours.. but my line isn't like that. When people think about Tokyo, they get scared that you might be packed into the train like cattle. FYI, I can have a seat when I get on a train in the morning. Many lines coming in from the suburb areas are so packed though. Thank God, I live in the middle of the city. :-) Happy commuting and be safe!!

I love the subtle new changes you've made to your web site! Very cool. You're bragging about the superiority of your Japanese transit system, though. I'm so envious - you get to "sit down?" Lucky you.

Really? Was my post a little showy? Well, I just love this convenient transportation system that Tokyo has to offer. sorry if I sounded like "Oh look at our fancy system". But I am pretty sure many Tokyoites are happy with our system. I will not to make it "showy" for upcoming posts. I promise. Have a good morning!

You have every right to brag about Tokyo's subway system (as well as the rest of Japan's public transportation). In my experience, the trains/buses were always clean and super-efficient. The drivers and operators were polite and helpful. I wish DC's public transport were more like that. *smooch*

Site looks hot, dear.

They do cram people in! See, if it weren't for the fact that this was done in Japan, I'd call it "ghetto-fab productivity". :-)

*desperate* Am I the only one who didn't see the changes?!
Ohmegod 266 subway stations?! In one city?! That's incomrehensible. I applaud the japanese efficiency though.
KL has 3 lines of mass transit, all of which use a different system, and none of which are particularly efficient at taking people where they want to go. It's ridiculous. I still drive into town whenever I want to go somewhere.
Do you own a car Shigeki? I kinda thought you did...

hey EnviroBoi.
I've never been to DC before so I don't know what it is like over there but I am happy with our transportation system. Oh, I was once yelled at by a bus driver once in Paris though. :-) Anyway, I hope mass transit system will be better worldwide. :-) Thanks for stopping by. and you have a pleasant day! *smooch*
Hey Mush,
Thank you very much. I am not sure what to do with my site design change coz people (ahem, like you) change their template all the time. But I am kinda lazy :-) I don't like my bitch. :-) You have a great day!
Hey Logan,
Welcome to my site. Yes, they do that but I don't get crammed into the train car at all. :-) Can you imagine what it would be like if you are in the overcrowded and the person in front of you 1 inch away is a sweaty unattractive guy? no rush hours for me. :-) Have a great day!
Hi Will,
When you typed your comment, the text color was blue, no? It used to be black. That's about it. Nothing major. :-) Yeah, 266 stations are insane. I really didn't expect that many. But then, Tokyo is too huge and crowded...Yes, I do own a car and usually drive around over the weekend or when I do compulsive purchase. :-) Thanks for stopping by. You have a great evening!

Oh Oh yes I did notice it. Damn it is minor lol! But cute! Why not make the words come out in blue too?
P/S what car do you drive? I own a Toyota...I love Japanese cars.

HI Will,
Good that you noticed! hehehe, yes, I like anything subtle. Well, if all the words are blue, I am pretty sure they would hurt your eyes a lot. :-) I have a ridiculously good eye sight (which is awkward for geeks.) so I need to make it less stressful.
What car? I drive one of non-straight jock type cars. Toyota's Prius. :-P
