Non-exciting Friday

Fri, 19 August 2005

I did audioblog for the last 2 Fridays but I decided not to do it today. Why? I don't sound pretty today (Not that I sounded pretty last time) after lots of speaking in public.. (T_T) My life has been very quiet this week. My fortune teller told me this is the bestest year of the 12 year-something-cycle. Well, at least, I am healthy and bored so I shouldn't really complalin about my life. But I highly doubt this is the best year ever. I pretended to work so hard while I was just chatting with my friends and a few blogmates. It was fun. After pretending to work so hard, I was asked to go and become a technical translator for the president who's been here in Japan so long but doesn't speak a word in Japanese. dumb ass I had to change my clothes to the suit and it was pretty hot out. I didn't look pretty in this Prada suit today but I went there anyway. I arrived there on time. The photo on top is Tokyo International Forum. I think I posted the evening ones so here is how it looks at day time. On the way there, one of my shoes gave up on me. I mean it fell on to the ground, and the guy on a bike freaking ran it over!!! I had to wear that even though it was very scratched and destroyed. Nobody would look at my shoe anyway. On my way back, I stopped by this shoe store, Regal. (Yeah, it sounds lame but it's a great Japanese shoe maker) I can't wear western shoes because I am Japanese. Okay, that didn't sound right. no, no. My instep is high like many Japanese/ Asians. One of my gay friends is very crazy about shoes. If I tag along with him, I end up being in a shoe store for an hour 3 times out of 5. Unlike him, I only take 5 mins which is surprising for stereotypical queers. I got my new shoes just fine. Anyway, I don't have a plan tonight so I hit the gym and came back home. I am now enjoying this moment with a gin martini. How's your day been? Have a happy Friday!!! P.S. I just looked at the south from this room and it's almost full moon (well, tomorrow though) and pretty. Go do something crazy people!

mmm ... gin marini. you read my mind. i was just thinking about what my first drink will be after my 6 months of no alcohol (which ends on Sept. 17th, btw ... mark your calendar). I decided it would be a dirty Sapphire martini. yum.

i have high arches too.

*Happy Friday smooches*

i haven't had a martini in such a long time. mind you, my drink of choice is now a gin-and-tonic. the afternoon bartender at the karaoke bar that i go to makes them soooooooo well.

Shoe shopping goes fast for me, too.

But it's mostly because I only buy shoes when something jumps out at me (for example, the pair of yellow shoes two days ago that a person can't help but see first).

My feet have almost no arch. Shoes last a long time for me without wearing out. :-)

I have incredibly high arches. Once I was a bank teller and was required to wear pumps and stand up all day and my arches fell. It hurt. I bought some Birkenstock hippy shoes and they fixed my feet. I wear Birks all the time now, even though they're fashion-backward to the Nth degree. Oh well, I live in the middle of nowhere, it's not like I could even get away with good shoes.

I Iike to stuff green olives with bleu cheese and put them in martinis - delicious!

mmm... blue cheese stuffed olives .... yummmmmmmmmmm...
also good: garlic-stuffed olives and feta-stuffed olives.

mmm... olives.

Ooh Prada suit! Swanky.

Happy Full Moon to you honey! I had to google the word instep...do asians have higher insteps compared to others? I dunno.

I'm very brand-loyal when it comes to clothing, especially shoes. Comfort is number one to me, I'd probably buy a pair of ugly but comfy shoes than pretty ones that I can't bear wearing.

I love Camper and probably will buy a Birkenstock next, although Birks have a reputation for being lesbianic. Are Regal shoes comfortable?

And I want to know how your shoe came off your foot, fell on the ground, and had a bicycle run it over without the guy falling off his bike. I think any guy running over my work shoe would probably fall off the road and get hit by a car.

I have wide feet so I feel most comfy in sandals/slippers. Shoe shopping is really no joy for me either. But i do own near 20 pairs of sandals/slippers.... lol

Hi EnviroBoi,

I don't think I can live without adult beverages for that long. It's less than a month. kewl. I am pretty sure you should go easy on the first day. A sapphire martini, dirty sounds really nice. :-) Make sure it's dry and good enough for your first day. :-)

You do, too? So you can't wear incredibly flat loafers? That's pitty. Though I like my arches. (that's, right an "arch" was more fitting in that sentence. Thanks!) Have a happy weekend! Smoooootches! (yeah, there is a t in there)

Hi Raph,

A gin and tonic is very refreshing! But I prefer something really really dry. When I ask for a dry martini, and it isn't dry enough, here is an unhappy man. :-) When I go to a bar, I usually order something I am familiar with. I feel like I should explore more as there are various kinds. Afternoon bartender.... wow. I don't think i can start a martini that early. :-) But then, when I am in Vegas, I drink in the morning. :-)hahaha. Have a great Saturday!

Hi Lo,

Yeah, I mean I can't spend a lot of time on shoes. They are just shoes, you know. :-) But then, I can't spend a lot of time on anything for shopping. I guess I am queer enough. Since your arches are flat, you are the best candidate for Gucci's ridiculously expensive flat loafers! I was devastated when I tried them on several years ago. :-) Get better, Sweetie. Happy Saturday working!

Hi Mush,

I realize many western shoes are designed for people with no arches or something... What's up with them? Moreover, you were one of those bank tellers? wow. I can't count bills very well. (T_T) Birks are very comfy for sure. They are cool looking. May I say they are very Pacific Northwest? hehe. I've never had blue cheese stuffed olives. They sounds sinfully grown-up. :-) I willcheck them out! Happy Weekend!

hmmmm.... a martini with those olives. those are great, enviroboi. just a few more weeks!

Hi Will,

Yeah, I should've used the word "Arch" instead of instep. But I couldn't come up with it. sorry. Instep sounds really figure skating. :-) comfort is always my top priority! I agree. Regal shoes are very comfortable, Will. They considered the characteristics of Japanese feet. :-) I ran across the street via crosswalk and one of them just fell. I shouldn't have run but I was almost late for the meeting. and I couldn't stop right there and the guy on a bike behind RAN IT OVER!!! *sob* But they are almost expired shoes so that's o.k. :) have a fabulous weekend!

Hi AJ,

Okay, that's kinda inconsistent, isn't it? You dont' find it enjoyable for shoe shopping but you have 20 pairs of snadals???? You are like Carrie Bradshow from Sex and the city. So you wear a different pair of sandals every day? hmmmm.... interesting. On the other hand, I only own 1 pair of sandals which I barely wear.... hehehe. You have a great weekend evening!
