My gateway to the world.

The second icon from left, the fan-like one on top, is a wireless connection icon on my iBook. (I have 3 computers at home, and iBook is connected with WiFi) uh-huh. uh-huh. I am so geeky. My internet connection at home was out since Friday. Maintenance people couldn't do anything over the weekend because I didn't behave nicely they just don't work weekends. The maintenance guy (not the hunky plumber type) finally fixed it this morning. For the last 4 days, I wasn't able to browse internet a lot. But I wanted to keep the promise I made to myself. Posting at least one entry a day. Over the weekend, I went to a cafe and brought my laptop just to upload my entry. I didn't feel like having overpriced Cafe Americano (410yen here...= $3.66 = €3.05.) But that was the only option. Then, it hit me all of the sudden. My life is heavily relied on Internet. I don't talk to my parents much so I e-mail them even though it's just 10 mins drive from here. I chat with friends. I even research on something that is not important but is stuck in my head. My job needs Internet, too. I so don't want to say this but here it is. I cannot live without Internet. There, I said it. If I lost internet, I would have to check myself into Internet Recovery Institution and do 12 step program. Fortunately, my fabulous 100Mbps fiber optic connection is finally back up and running today. I can now get back to be a cosmopolitan version of peeping Tom by looking at other blogs. Watch out, people! Here I come. (^_^)V

Life without Shigeki sucks. Glad you're back!

:)

I completely agree. I can't live without Internet either. But I wish I had the connection that you have. I live out in the woods, so I have dial-up, and connect at a blazing 26.4 kbps. What speed! ;)

Glad you're still around, enjoy your summer!

I must admit it's the same for me, both for work and private, I depend very much on the internet for a lot of things. Maybe too much?

I'd rather get rid of my telephone than my internet connection! When it goes down, I feel lost and out of touch. Plus my ability to make a living disappears. I understand!

I can't live without the Internet either. Damn wonderful addictive Internet!

i feel you, shigeki! i've been without internet access at home for the past few days either because the phone isn't connected in my apartment. (yes, i'm one of those remaining dinosaurs still using dial-up.) so, i come here to the department of linguistics at school to check my e-mail and to read people's blogs.

(-__-;) i want internet!

Thanks Larry.

Life without internet really sucks. Have a great one! \(^_^)/

Hi Jason,

I guess we are not patient and do love anything fast. (I don't think it's true but I hear..." the average time of how much time we spend on sex is a lot shorter compared with other nationals.) Maybe, not. :-) Hopefully, something wonderful solution at a reasonbable price will come to your place soon! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi Sven,

I think Internet has become our essential tool. That's a good thing but a bad thing at the same time. :-) I understand Sweden and other Northern Europe Countries are very way ahead of us in Internet field. Why's that? Anyway, Sleep tight!

Hi Inter|textual,

That's an interesting insight, Michael. I so can live without a telephone. As a matter of fact, I don't like phone calls for some reasons. I do this "don't-wanna-answer-it" face every once in a while. :-)

Hi Mush,

Welcome to this non-exciting site!! I found this article. I guess it's the same thing for alcohol. If your life is manipulated by Internet, that's a problem. But otherwise, we should enjoy it! Thanks for dropping in.

Hey Raph,

As long as you have access to Internet, that's great! But I understand you want something faster. :-) Are you going to get broadband soon like Larry? Well, you should if it's available in your area. Happy internet surfing!
