Geeky signals all over

Thu, 16 June 2005

I haven't taken photos today so this is a substitute and it's crappy..... you can at least get an idea of what this is, right? I decided not to go to the gym this morning because of the thing on my face...I read newspaper at breakfast, and one article got my attention.
TOKYO--Livedoor Co said Wednesday it will launch an inexpensive public-use local area network communications service next month in Tokyo, joining NTT Communications Corp and Softbank Corp in offering the service. The service will be also utilized by Fuji Television Network Inc as the first deal of its business alliance with livedoor, it said. Video images taken by Fuji TV camera crew members and reporters outside the studios can be transmitted to the broadcaster's headquarters via livedoor's wireless LAN. This doesn't cover the whole story I read on the newspaper. It only costs 525 Yen = $4.81 = 4 Euros a month. You can get connected to Internet via this service from anywhere within Yamanote Line. Anywhere within Yamanote Line circle will be virtually internet accessible via Wireless LAN. The Yamanote Line is a circular commuting train line which connects Tokyo's major city centers. A trip around the whole circle takes approximately one hour. Considering you have to pay about $5 for one WiFi session at the airport, this is a damn good deal. If you live in Tokyo or plan to move to Tokyo, don't sign up an ISP service yet. You might be able to get WiFi signals for this service. It will be cheaper and more convenient. If you are a visitor and have a laptop, this would be good, too.
