I was looking forward to this. The concierge of my apartment building gave me the shipping package that was held for me when I came back. It's still in movie theatres here in Japan so I mail-ordered from the States. The phantom of the opera. I have seen the four different musical versions previously. If you compare this to the stage version, the Phantom of the Opera, it would be disappointing without questions. But I watched it as a movie version obviously. I decided not to compare this with other stage productions I have seen. This is absolutely a beautiful film. The quality of singers was not that good. However, I was surprised how well and deep the Phantom's emotion was captured. I really liked Gerard Butler who played the Phantom regardless of his singing. I instantly fell in love. I think he delivered emotion and what his words represented very well. His acting covered the lack of singing quality. But let's face it. He is not primarily a stage singer. Considering, he has done tremendous job. Besides, I liked the way his lips moved when he especially sang "The music of the night." The most disappointing thing was Raoul's voice was too pretty. I wonder if they could've not found any better actor... But I really liked this film. Viva Gerard Butler!

I believe the voices in the Phantom of the Opera are dubbed as the actors are not professonial singers.
I'm sorry I'm wrong. Gerald Butler actually sang his part. All the actors in the Lloyd Webber/Joel Schumacher movie sang their own roles, except for Minnie Driver as Carlotta, whose singing was done by Margaret Preece.
Sorry for the wrong info.
Hi Gareth, Don't worry about it. His lipsync wasn't great so it is very easy to think he doesn't sing it for real.
However, I barely cared whether he did or not :-)
Thanks for stopping by! Have a good evening!

Wow! This can be one particular of the most beneficial blogs We have ever arrive across on this subject. Basically Excellent. I'm also a specialist in this topic therefore I can understand your effort.
Between me and my husband we've owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I've settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.
